We attended the FICCI and selected few movies from the current Latin American productions. Very interesting showcase, beside some retrospectives. Multi locations throughout the city with shuttle bus.

If your schedule is flexible and you like films, consider visiting during the annual Festival International de Cine de Cartagena, or FICCI. Interesting films, many with English subtitles, and the cool theatres provide a relief from Cartagena's oppressive heat. I was able to see three films a day over six days with my festival pass, which cost about $50. The festival is technically free, but you'll want to invest in a pass, as passholders get priority entry and sometimes the people in the ''free'' line don't get in. In addition to films, there are industry events, technical sessions and awards. I'd say the experience was on a par with the well-known SXSW event in Austin, Texas, but with a Latin American theme. I especially liked the documentaries. Book your hotel in advance as the city fills up for this event. In 2014 the festival was in mid-March; you can google FICCI and Cartagena to get future information.
