It's impossible to get any work done, because the internet goes down every ten minutes, and all the communal areas are flooded with horrible music at great volume. It takes an eternity to get checked in. The hotel itself is quite nice. Staff friendly, helpful.

First a disclaimer, 4 stars is leveled to overall Barranquilla level, which is sadly not very high, at least in anything that should be above the street food.
The food was average, ceviche bellow average, didn't taste very fresh. The cocktails were hit and miss, not even consistent in quality.
The place by itself is really nice, the patio of grand old hotel, but we were unlucky with the dinning table close to the dancing area with loud music.
There were a lot of errors when paying a bill. First we get billed completely wrong (bottles instead of glasses) and later again tried to be billed multiple times for same orders.
Normally I would give it lower evaluation, but as I said, this is Barranquilla.

Stayed 3 nights with my 11 yr old son. Front desk was helpful and most spoke some good English.
Excellent grounds. Clean hotel well kept. Stayed in the classic king room. Was sufficient, a little small but expect being the smallest room option. Paid about 48$ usd per night. My advice is stay close to the elevators as the low room numbers are far down the corridors. Long walks.
Pool is huge. Salt water. Get out there early for loungers and sun. Hard to come by on weekends.
Restaurant is decent. Drinks as well.
Service here is very very slow. Attendants need waiving down.
Nice gym here for Colombian hotel gyms where it's hard to find newer and functional.
AC was nice and cool. Had good hot water. 2 pluses as each is hard to find with the off brand hotels.
Great evening ambiance here at this 90 yr old hotel. Well done.

It is true that the rooms might need a bit of improvement but I was told they are rebuilding an entire part of the hotel and shall be soon ready. However I must say that this is a classic, beautiful and full of history hotel.

With the best swimmingpool in Barranquilla you get back to the early 20th century just sipping a drink by the pool. Those wonderful palm trees in this superb architecture and you know you are at the right place. Great service, Diego just parked my car and got all things while I checked in.

I must say that I wanted to try another 5* and when to the Movich but never going back there. This is the place to be and I hope to be back soon and maybe experience the famous carnival one day.

Thanks Mayra also for the amazing help through my booking process and settling in. I ll be back, for sure.

We stopped to take a look of this unique nad historical hotel. Knowing how old it is and that it had gone through some hard times, we were very gladly surprise by its beauty. For sure we will stay here next time we visit Barranquilla.

for all the tourist reasons.... we went there just to have a drink, as it was listed as a must in Barranquilla. It is a nice hotel, but certainly not a five star..... service is quite average, although in Colombia service is very good everywhere. Probably the management is not the best.... - on the historic relevance of the place, we were surprised to learn that during the dark moments of the narco war in Colombia, this was the headquarters of a drug cartel! the hotel is big! It really shocks you thinking how powerful those drug cartels were.... just for that it was more than interesting to go have a drink and tapas here.... - NOTE: the hotel was taken over by the government after the cartels were destroyed and now is in private hands to my knowledge.

Feels like you're stepping back in time in this hotel, but in a good way.

It has a really grand feel to it, and i felt really sucked into a time warp whilst relaxing by the pool there.

Room was lovely, big and clean.
Staff attentive and helpful - food was great, particularly breakfast.

Yes the building is a little tired around the edges but i think that's what adds to the character of the hotel.

Would definitely stay again
