I last visited Bocas de Cenizas acting as chaperone to an unusual couple...she a pert young Colombian single mother and university student of mine and he a balding impotent son of Italian immigrants who had arrived in England presumably fleeing Mussolini´s Italy. I thought it...More

Hi Rita you can take a bus from Santa Marta´s station and get to Barranquilla. Once in Barranquilla it's pretty easy to grab a cab to "Las Flores" you can ask the driver to take you to the place where you take the trolley it was 12,000 pesos last time i went, you have to wait till it's full so i guess time can vary depending on how many people have arrived. You can also walk but it's going to take you a couple of hours to get to the most northern part of bocas de cenizas. That said on the way back i want to tell you that i didn't find cabs available i had my parents pick me up by car. Some friends told me there are motorcycle owners who can take you back to the city. Overall just a couple of things, when you arrive in Barranquilla, talk to the taxi driver before going inside and ask him how much is the fare to get to the town las flores it should be around 10,000 to 12,000 cop depending on traffic of course if you can bargain for less the better. I would suggest that if you are by yourself you manage to arrange some sort of pickup service, Las flores is a typical turist place for locals with lots of seafood restaurants but that means most people get there by private cars, uber works fine in barranquilla so that would be my choice. If you are with someone or a group then go eat at any of the restaurants or grab a beer and have somebody help you take a motorcycle, the way out is a bit rusty but distance in Barranquilla are small so you will get to the main street in minutes. I had a wonderful time i went with a friend and my girlfriend, Barranquilla is sunny and people are nice and feel free to ask anybody for advices, but be careful i wouldn't suggest to go at noon, try to make this trip early its my personal advice, also you will have plenty of time to go to the museo del caribe and other interesting spots around the city so best of luck in your trip! Hope this helped a bit!
