This complex is not particularly easy to reach. It is worth a visit in combination with Tiantong Temple complex, as it is only about 10 km from Tiantong. It is not ancient, and there was major renovation / restoration work underway at numerous places.

This ancient Buddhist temple is a classic. It is said to have enshrined one of the teeth from a well known Buddha from India, and is considered a holly place. Locals & foreigners alike come here for blessings all year long, and various miracles have been reported.

So the temple itself is outside the city, around a 40 minute cab ride from the center, but its worth it. There are a lot of pagodas and you have to wander a bit to go through them all. The highlight is the massive wall which has more than 500 disciples carved into it. Most of the temples do not... More

This is one of the 84,000 places with the remains of Buddha; build by King Asoka in 282 AD, and rebuilt since. Many separate pavilions in large wooded grounds with lakes and ponds (fish, turtles, birds) and two pagodas. Serene, small fee, take your time and enjoy. Far from city centre but the metro goes there. Enjoy!

I visited this place with my friends. Its almost on the outskirts of NINGBO but a scenic and soothing place which makes it worth visiting.

Easy to get to, take the subway to the last stop heading East, then take the 790 or 155 bus, 45-1 hour from the downtown. Really peaceful ancient feeling here, got some great shots. Around two hours is enough time to see everything. And it's FREE!

It took us about 45 minutes in a car from central Ningbo to get there. But it was definitely worth it. An active monastery, there are real monks walking around. My host showed me how to light incense and wish. We did it 9 times, as required. You are not supposed to talk in some places, and in others you... More

This is a sprawling temple complex set in a beautiful forest. It is wonderful to wander through the pavillions and find quiet little tucked-away places for contemplation. Much of the temple looks quite old with any restoration having been tastefully done. When we visited, there were a lot of new buildings being constructed near the car park. This probably means... About 45 min taxiride from the centre, but still "in the city". Big complex surrounded by old cinammon trees and bamboo forest, so shady even in hot summer, many ponds with fish and turtles, many temple buildings, three pagodas, lots of stone carvings, ancient pieces. Top temple with hundreds of golden/lacquered statues. Easy to walk around.

This temple is said to be 1000 years old monastery. It is largest in the Eastern province of China. It has over 200 rooms for monks to stay and is spread in a vast area. It is a prime place for Buddhists - must list in agenda and must see
