A scenic location that inspired poets in the past. Arriving at the coach terminus, one is fetched to yet another station about 20minutes away to catch a Golf buggy for another 800 to reach the cable car station. At the peak, the view is picturesque. Modest entrance fees are charged.

I went to Tianshan Mountains last autumn with a travelling group.I have never imagined a view like this. The valleys crossed and the mountains were kind of haze because of the smog,I thought I was in my dream. There were many spectacular lakes on the mountains. The ticket was 210 RMB.Just be careful because the roads were steep and put on more clothes!

Lived in Shihezi for the summer. Went on several backpacking trips into the Tianshan Mountains. One of which we rented bikes from a shop in town. Amazing mountains and an amazing part of the world. We took a train from Beijing the whole way, it tooks 30 something hours and it was sooooo cool. I highly recommend a trip out... More

Located just 60 km or so from Urumqi, it's the most accessible piece of nature from the city. You can take a tourist bus and visit the grand canyon (the attendant also sang some karaoke for us, an impromptu group of about 20 Europeans). Breathtaking views of the mountains and rather unspectacular lake, with sheep and horses (you can rent... More

Absolutely amazing. Worth a visit if you only visit one place in xinjiang, must see. Don't take a tour though. Just explore on your own

See my review on TianChi, access is exactly the same as I outlined there. The lake is fenced off, you're limited to set wooden walkways and there is no opportunity to enjoy hiking.

This range is excellent. It's hundreds of kilometres long and much of it is still unexplored. There are few places on earth where this is true. One could spend a lifetime trekking around it's peaks and valleys.

Can't walk all the around but great walk to waterfalls. Facilities , shops were open till 7:30 in peak summer season. Walk to the monastery also worthwhile.
