This is both local and international shopping centre. Certain things are very pricey for a tourist especially if you don't speak either mandarin or Uyghur. No English speakers in any shops. However, Russian speakers are easier to find. The place is huge and easy to get lost. It's very crowed please be mindful of your pockets.

Several Malls adjacent to one another. Part of the thrill is in the haggling. Except that they do not speak any languages other than local Urumqi language and mandating. It is pale when compared to the bazaar in Istanbul. The open space/square has some local activities for photo-taking with falcons and the local tentage for dwelling by the local tribesmen.

This is a totally skippable tourist attraction selling mediocre souvenirs and overpriced dry fruits. Combine it with some other activity in the area and budget 15 minutes to walk through it.

These are modern shops. However, there is not much to see in Urumchi, so it worth coming over to see.

In all honesty I was expecting a vibrant bazaar. i was expecting to go back into time... But it was not like that. I was there late on a Sunday afternoon. It was a market that was just trying to survive. Many of the stalls/shops were not opened unfortunately. Don't get me wrong. This place shocked me in other ways.... More

Some very nice teas and handicrafts offered at reasonable price (after bargaining) . Oriental style of the house. Tourists from central asia buy lots of scarfs and stones. Very interesting souvenirs carved on site. Lovely people with a great sense of selling.

Lots of local produce for tourists, but you have to bargain with the shop owners. Ask and try before you shop. Looks like plaza in Abu Dhabi.

This place is a full tourist trap. They all sell the same items. The building is new and not related to a real traditional bazaar.

At the bazaar, you can see lots of things, but Han vendors are taking over many of the traditional shops. You can still see traditional Uyghur handicrafts like knives, scarves, and local foods (dates, nuts, and fruits). Everything is overpriced so don't forget to haggle for a better deal!
