This is a big area blending the new and old buildings and also the East-West culture and is a good place to implore local culture and lifestyle with many shops, stores selling all kinds of lifestyle products and also restaurants, cafes and food booths.
On the day of our visit, although it was a weekday afternoon, the place was crowded and full of people despite of the sunny weather, mainly youngsters and teenagers. You can shop leisurely here and right inside there's a big train display (old train converted to a cafeteria where you can go and take photos with) and right across the street is another shopping center.

Chengdu Eastern Music Park is not a main attraction in Chengdu, but a recommended place to hang out. The location is a bit far from city center.
The park is used to be factories area back in the days, now they still preserved the factories layout and make small shops, cafes, and restaurant (which is kinda unique concept).. A nice place to chill out from the hustle and bustle of the city. They also held some concerts and arts exhibition and performance in the park. I suggest that you visit the park on weekends, it can be very quiet on weekdays.

Loved this place; another communist China factory area turned into an art outlet so young Chinese visitors can gather and share their ideas. Not so big as Beijing's 798 but somehow different and more tastier that its big brother. Statues, Monuments, galleries, bars, and restaurants (one place worth to mention is their Beer store close to West Entrance, with LOTS of products to choose), and one of the few 711 in the city. There was a Japanese Cosplay convention from Oct 1-3,2015 and it was very interesting to see how Chinese youth is more "opened" to these kind of intercultural behaviors than their previous generations. Recommended for small groups and couples.

We visited with our 1.5 year old from 5-7:30pm on a Saturday evening and, at those times, we were the only Western tourists there. This place has something for everyone, but probably only for 2 hours or so.
Lots of bars, cafes, dessert shops - good place for a romantic date or for hanging out with friends. There is a row of inexpensive restaurants, but not sure how late they are open. Our food was quite tasty for the price (and we are experienced Sichuan food eaters). Later, street-food style stalls opened up near the main outdoor stage and it was clear that they would probably be open late. Several venues for music or just music TV both inside and out. I do not know how to check out which music acts are playing (probably because I cannot speak/read Chinese).
This is clearly meant for upscale Chinese locals, and is a great way to get a taste of the modern Chengdu. With just a toddler and a tight budget, we appreciated the public art and the toddler liked the old machine works, including an old MiG airplane, a mobile radar unit and industrial lathe. You could spend a lot of money here on a date if you wanted, but it is a nice diversion from the regular museum/palace/temple routine.
Note: tripadvisor and other websites list similar, but not identical, street addresses. Do not worry. There are large brown traffic signs on the highways pointing out how to get there...just show your taxi driver the name of the place in Chinese, and any address, and they will figure it out just fine.

The plaza has put much of the old slogans back to memorize the age of old communism factories. The best IMAX cinema of Chengdu is settled there.
And the place is also full of cosplayers. You can find groups of them in all kinds of clothes everywhere...
Delicious food is found around the plaza.

We visited here while friends were in town. We went during the day mid-week. It was pretty dead, but the buildings and some of the various artworks around are interesting. I've been separately in the evening and many more people were present. Its basically a variety of coffee shops and bars/pubs with a few restaurants. There is an IMAX theater there that does play movies in english. Its worth an evening stroll and have a drink, but try to go Friday-Sunday for more of a happening environment.

This is a museum actually with lots of amazing things to see. They display and introduce musical intrusments as well as the documents and organise performance in this park. The thing that impressed us most was the Machinery art right in front of it. A nice place to spend the morning and the steel lion in the main hall.

Very interesting, I would put it in lower top 10 of things to see in Chengdu.
The costumed teenagers piece is odd, but adds colour. Visit on the weekend.

It was not worth the trip. This was suppose to be a trendy area where old factories have been converted to host art exhibitions & events etc. We visited on a weekday late morning & the area looked deserted. Nothing interesting to see except a few book & gift shops.
