We booked the VIP experience which includes either a massage or ear cleaning and Has a seating area at the front of the theatre with excellent views of the stage.
Tea is available throughout the evening and snacks which are sunflower seeds, which the Chinese can eat at a rate of knots!
Alcohol can be purchased. We paid 200 yen for a bottle of red wine which had obviously corked and was absolutely revolting and un-drinkable. (Great wall of China red wine) Better to be avoided !!
Overall it was an entertaining evening. Very funny in parts, despite not understanding the language and the face changers were amazing.

It’s great visiting time there on June 21 evening. It’s my 2nd time visit and 1st was more than 10 years before. Entertainment company served wanton soups and green tea drink as complimentary. All arrangements were very nice especially Chengdu faces.

A very entertaining evening, seeing some of the best of Japanese culture, dance and music.

The adjacent tea house is an education - we were amazed to see customers having their ears cleaned whilst supping tea. But there you go - it's all part of the importance (to us) of learning how other cultures work.

The show in the little theatre next door is stunning - we couldn't take our eyes off the stage. Costumes, music, dance and lighting combined into an excellent show.

The face changing is in the second half and is just bewildering to watch. We could not imagine how the faces (masks) can be changed so fast - in the blink of an eye.

this was one of the cultural highlights of our trip.

This was a beautiful cultural experience. It involved a number of acts that included: orchestra, shadow puppets, hand held puppets, comedy routine, dancing, and soloists. The best part was the last act with the magically changing costumes and faces. It was very clever.

We were lucky and had front row seats - thoroughly enjoyed the show. The costumes, performers and set were bright and livley - I would recommend this as a wonderful evening out for a comphrehensive cultutral experience.

The best of several chengdu opera...mainly because they have announcements and subtitles in English so you can understand the story!!!!....It was very different to normal opera...hugely enjoyable...and how do they do the face changing?....we got lucky and had some wonderful seats near the front..the show only lasts 1 1/2 hours so no chance of losing interest!..highly recommended!

Didn't understand a word but didn't need to either. Totally worth the experience. Buy the VIP tickets and get a massage and/or an ear cleaning. Yup you read that right. We opted for the massage but passed on the ear cleaning. A weird custom here. But very popular!

Certainly it delineates a sense of at the performing arts centre or a stadium where authentic opera were performed! There are exhibitions of La Traviatta, Madame Butterfly, and so forth! It was amazing! The illuminated stages also created a great sense of love from the soprano and messo sopranos!
