Nice to walk around in the evening here you can get in touch with locals and see the activities nearby best shopping centers and food stalls

Visited here on one of our first days in Jinan. It's located directly across from the Baotu Springs. We only walked through quickly, but it seemed nice and clean. Would have preferred to have spent a bit longer here exploring the square more thoroughly.

It was a beautiful sunny day when I visited and, it was great to see the locals flying kites (at night they have ones that light up too). There’s also a boat that goes around the surrounding waterway, a shopping centre hidden underground, and close access to Furong St for night market entertainment.

Fun place to walk around and get some exercise. The malls over next to these place make for some great shopping too.

It is a very nice place and beautiful...there r many many stores and brands round it...take photos in the squre then go shopping around

A nice big open space in the middle of the city, where groups and families come out to stroll. There;s space for kids to roller skate and play with their remote control toys and vendors selling kites and other stuff at reasonable prices.
Nearby, you have Baotu Hot Springs gardens, well worth a visit and at the other end is Parc 6, a large shopping mall, where you can get inside, out of the Sun or rain, depending on the season. There's coffee shops and pizza places, in addition to local cuisine, with loads of choice.
By the canal, there's a canal side bar, serving various beers.

This square can be considered the central area in Jinan. It is an open space park, with many shops and malls surrounding the area. At the basement, there is a McDonald's, a bakery shop, department store with a supermarket.
The first time I was there around 4pm, there were only a few locals gathering there - relaxing, kite flying, exercising etc.
It was very different when I went there the second time in the evening. The backdrop building was lighted up, very nice indeed. The musical water fountain display started at 7:30pm and lasted for half an hour. Visually beautiful with the colourful lighting dancing to the tune of beautiful music. Highly recommend to visit in the evening.

The Square does not occupy a large area and the best time to come here is during the evening and at night. I was there in May and the Square was well-decorated with beautiful blossoming colorful flowers in well-manicured garden landscape.
The air was cooling in the evening and at one corner of the square, it was entertaining to see some kids skating gracefully around the fountain area. The bold blue Spring sculpture erected like a gigantic robot keeping surveillance on every movement of the visitors in the square. The bold artistic structure looks impressive and it actually represented the ancient Chinese calligraphy word of `Spring' as Jinan is renowned as a Spring City with spring water outflowing from the earth.
I noticed a stream flowing by the side of the Square as I crossed the overhead bridge to the modern shopping malls across the road. As I stood at the overhead bridge, I could see the stream shimmered under the hanging willow leaves as the sun prepared to set in the West.
There is a food court below the City Square, appears clean, air-conditioned and the price was reasonable. We had our dinner at the food court before we came up again to the Square.
The main climax at the Square is the musical water fountain display and everyone waits patiently and anxiously for that moment to arrive. And when it arrives, every spectator looks jaw dropped and stunned by the spectacular musical performance. The color of the fountain changes as the music becomes more pulsating and soothing. Many were mesmerized and lost in that beautiful moment of enjoyment. Many tried to capture the colorful dances of the fountain with their digital cameras. I was one of them.
The Square is right in the city center and reachable by walking. It is like the Tiananmen Square but not so large an area and without that atmosphere of sobriety and that historical notoriety associated with it.
It was a relaxing night well spent.

If you get the right time to see the dancing fountain you will really enjoy it, at teh square you can get everything for an upper calss mall to a discount center including mcdonalds and hagen daz.
I really enjoyed plenty of restaurants and supermarket really close to wal mart also
