Great place to be in Summer or Winter - just duck into a huge Department store to get cool or warm. Prices are better than other city malls - but ALL stores will give a discount even the International names - be persistent. Plenty of food outlets, but better to go into the side alleys for decent food.

Taiyuan Street in Shenyang is dying it has suffered a lot in the last couple of years where there used to be nice shops now the stores are all vacant. There are some shopping centers that are doing well but opposite all the shops are empty which gives this walking street a desolate character.

If you are in Shenyang and ran out of things to do, and are nearby, you may want to visit this Pedestrian street. Compared to other Pedestrian shopping streets (i.e. Nanjing Road in Shanghai), it is nothing special. There are western/Chinese chain shops selling mostly clothes and other stuff. There are big department stores. There is a food section of... More

it is incredible how loud the noise level is. Everywhere loudspeakers, for a westerner hard to listen to;-) Shops are ok, but it is hard to get bigger sizes, even a european 38 is hard to get as asians are wearing smaler sizes than europeans.

This street has everything from Coach and Michael Kors real stuff to the worst-spelled "Aidads" t-shirts ever seen. (It was supposed to be Adidas, but even "basketball" was mis-spelled.). It could be a very enjoyable experience here, and the 6-8 floor department stores with food court on the sub-level are really cool, but the constant barrage of screaming recordings from... More

Taiyuan Pedestrian Street has some of the same shops as Zhongjie but doesn't have the charm. If you want an authentic shopping street then go to Zhongjie instead.
