Tai Lake is enormous. It has 90 islands and covers a huge territory. The longest tunnel in China goes under it. The lake is round and they say the shape was created by a meteor millions of years ago. White-washed houses line the shore, in places, and skyscrapers decorate the shore in other places, but a lot of the shoreline is open. Huge lotus plants beautify the lake in summer. There are no beaches and not many boats. There's lots of little lakes in the area, as well as rivers and canals, and the Grand Canal, but this lake is the largest in the region and one of the biggest in China.

A local from Wuxi gave the tour, and was very proud of her city and the location. This was considered a small city, 3+ million people, but that is considered small by China city standards. There is a nice lake at the city park with nice walking paths.

We didn't do much on this lake, but we stopped by and took a looksee. We got there at sunset and caught a gorgeous blood-red sunset. A beautiful vista - definitely recommended

We cruised around the lake with an English-speaking guide. It was very relaxing. We had the opportunity to walk around and there were a few shops...definitely a quiet place. It was the time for the Lunar Festival so we saw a part of the show when they were setting up—wish we could have stayed for it because it looked interesting.

You can relax, but for the most part there is nothing fun to do! you can not take a boat, jet ski, camp, watersports, fish anything on the lake.

This is the place to go for the locals. Catch tadpoles or fish bites, fly a kite, kick a ball, walk, jogging... Wuxi people just adore this place. I do not understand why, though. Just an average place made for commercial and recreational usage. Do not go there for the weekends - difficult to find a parking spot. Drinks are sold with a higher margin than the shops, and there is not much food for purchase, except sausages and some pop corn... boat rentals are very old, but still float. Not a bad value.

Very nice area and great views but constantly pushed off walkway by shuttle buses which interrupted the peaceful walk around many times.

Wonderful lake and park where there were boats to rent in the shape of whales, rubber ducks and Nemo. Many families out because it was a holiday. Many kites were in the sky.

It seems that the bottom of this lake is volcanic and that the stones are highly prized as ornaments throughout China for sculptures in various gardens. The views were certainly interesting and we enjoyed our trip.
