Wuxi's ancient town is definitely a must see. As a bonus, it's free. If you want to go in just to look around, there's no fee. If you want to visit the big attractions inside, you need a ticket. The ancient streets are lined with xiao chi shops, or great Chinese street food places. Very old trees are decorated with new silk light boxes. A very old pagoda has a colourful new dragon wrapped around it. Take your camera and take your time. Give yourself a full day of sight-seeing in this part of Wuxi.

Wuxi is within the scope of a weekend trip from Shanghai. It is a place to go and slow down, enjoy some beautiful walks around various parts of Wuxi and of course go visit the Huishan Old Town.
The old town is well preserved and offering tons of beautiful architecture and gardens to enjoy. Please browse through the pictures and decide for yourself. I think it is worth visiting

Huishan Ancient Town located in the towndown of WUXI city. If you have interest in China culture and history, I reoommend it . It is famous for the China family temple culture. And it is with hundreds of ones. Also it is free of tickets.

Beautiful little old town with some really great architectures. Takes you back in time and showcases some of the beautiful houses and gardens constructed during the Ming and Ching period. Go in the morning and enjoy a nice cup of hot tea by the canal with the locals.

Just connected with Xihui Park, and I purchased the set ticket. The architectures look Jiangnan Style. Souvenirs available, and one more thing is I have tried some jiangnan style food there.

One of the Best old towns ive been to as its more Rural comapred to the Old towns in Cities such as suzhou or nanjing where its rather overun with modern stores etc. the Old Architecture is still very strong and the maintaining they have done to enhance it is amzing. Great place for photgraphers and nature garden lovers. Theres a Cable Cart towards the far end of the Park, with tour Carts available Also to take you up the hills and slopes around.

Must Visit in the Jiangsu Province as a whole!

Huishan Old Town is very close to Wuxi, you can get there via bullet train from Shanghai (takes 45 minutes). This is a beautiful little spot, not to be missed if you’re in the area. There are pretty lotus ponds, and gorgeous architecture surrounded by lush gardens. Huishan Old Town is a great place to buy souvenirs, and you will encounter artists and musicians. There are hidden gems everywhere...little nooks and crannies with sculptures and gardens. You will see that it is a very family friendly place, very relaxing to just stroll along the ponds and people watch. There are activities for children, paddle boats and such. It felt like a place where the locals come to meet, play cards and exercise.

A lovely and well set up garden and old town area. We started through the gardens, walking up the hill to the temple, amongst the trees. You walk up a paved way with occasional stairs. It's uphill but easy. Then we went down and walked through the gardens to the bottom the other hill where we took the cable car to the top. This is a must! Great views of the gardens and of the whole city.
And then we took a walk through that small streets along the canal. Some shops there for tourists, some food shops. A really lovely time.my 10yr old daughter loved it!
