One of the secrets of Suzhou

The entrance was behind roadworks hoarding at the entrance to a hutong, hard enough to find which is probably why this is such a tranquil spot unlike most of Suzhous gardens. Very... read more

By chance we entered this Pagoda. What a good experience. It looks a bit abandoned, but a the very end of the garden you will spot a tea house. Just enter, drink a tea (we asked for advice) and enjoy an hour of heaven's peace! Understand us well. There are more colorful garden, the water is not very clean, but... More

I found lion garden and humble administrator to be very crowded. But this nearby garden was delightful. It is a working Buddhist monastery. Very nice and interesting halls. And the highlight was a fabulous garden with me alone on the back right hand side. I guess I wasn't all the way alone -- there was the teahouse server as well.... More

The North Pagoda is a little off the beaten track, which is probably why it is so free of crowds. About 10 mins walk from the Humble Administrators Garden, but the complete opposite - surrounded by hoarding so it looked closed, but it isnt. Walk around the back and there is the entrance, at the entrance to a hutong. The... More

As was noted by several other reviewers, there was construction in progress on the south (entrance) side of the complex; to get in, you should follow the construction wall to the east side of the property where there is an entrance. I wasn't confident that the place was even open to the public... but found a security office staffed with... More

Closed, cerrado, this place is closed. And the streets around are deserted because there's a lot of roadwork going on (April 2016). At least half a dozen locals told me the obvious...I cannot see why they'd lie to us if there was a "second entrance"...the consolation being that standing in its shadow out in the street then "near enough is... Even if the main entrance is close, don't give up! Just go ahead to the secondary entrance and you can get into!

I went there on Nov 17, 2015; it's a cloudy day. The main entrance was closed as some repair work was in process and the road in front of it was also being rebuilt. Some traders who tried to sell addimission tickets for other site lied to me that this pagoda was not open, but I found another entrance in... More

This is a nicely preserved pagoda. The ticket includes a visit inside and suggest that you can climb all the way to the top. However, the top of the pagoda was locked up when I was there and metal bars are in front of the top windows. This is a bit disappointing. also, the climb goes up very narrow stairs... More

Nothing to review, as some locals explained, this site is closed down because of some sort of illegal activities against tourists (forcing them to buy something). Nobody could tell when it might be reopened. So don't include that place in your tour.
