another of the many beautiful gardens of Suzhou, smaller in size and easy to meander. It is very peaceful, it was, thankfully, not crowded so left room to breath and to enjoy. The seniors of Suzhou enjoy free entry and can visit the tea houses...More

Very disappointed as there were so many people, you could not see the gardens well enough to appreciate. Lining up to walk through a door or gate is not my idea of fun....but that is me. We had a one day private tour which included...More

This a definite must to understand the beauty of Chinese gardens. The water, pagoda, river and city wall speak to the history of the city. You will understand the history and architecture of this rural Chinese city.

Hello Manu and everyone, I will be in Shanghai in 2 months and interested in going to Suzhou and visit the gardens. It seems amazing from everyone's posts. However, I cannot speak Chinese. Is it possible to get the bullet train tickets and navigate from Shanghai to Suzhou or around Suzhou, speaking English or I must pay a private tour guide? Please advise me. Thank you.

It is not really necessary to have a guide. But that depends on how easy you feel travelling. The train from Shanghai to Suzhou is direct and no problem. Print yourself a map of Suzhou and mark which gardens you want to see... More

My tour guide did not know where this is. Can someone give me landmarks and a more detailed address besides what's on trip advisor for this location? I tried the address on trip advisor and it wasn't helpful. Thank you!

Unfortunately, we were the same. The guide was provided as part of a tour group. The challenge is getting a local one with enough English proficiency for you but each area has quite a few signs explaining what you are... More
