I was here for the summer of 2015. An interesting place (totally different to the UK and anywhere i had been before), with a long straight beach, along the coast, a few rivers adjoining, further down the coast it was less developed, i saw hundreds of small fishing boats about a mile out literally net to net from one another covering the ocean..
The beaches had a new feel about them like they hadn't been there long, i don't know if the sand was bought in or if this is naturally how this coast is. I worked at a sailing school and stood knee deep in the ocean for the most part of 5months, and it was a sandy, shallow, gradual drop off so these beaches could likely be the natural coastline. Lovely soft golden sand leading all the way into the ocean. The only sealife i saw in 5 months were tiny fish and jellyfish! The jellyfish came through in a 'swarm' later in the year, some were huge and i think some stung, i was careful and only had one close encounter and luckily it was breif! There was plenty of seafood to eat; Yo-yoi (this is how to pronounce) is dried squid and was one of my favourite local snacks. You get it in packets from shops or by the kilo from street vendors, a chewy sweet salty savory snack, simply delicious! Not to mention the street barbeques, fantastic spices, and mongolian honey lamb and beer!

We spend a weekend close to this beach and although everything is quite beautiful from far away unfortunately the beach is littered with plastic and other rubbish. Could be a nice spot if given a good cleanup.

I'm sure we are the only foreigners here. It is obviously the quiet season but saying that, we have the immense golden sandy beach virtually to ourselves. The boys play soccer and some Chinese boys join in. My 14 year old daughter sunbathes and reads a book. My 7 year old collects shells and builds a sandcastle with some Chinese
Children and everyone is relaxed and happy. One line woman wandering down the. Each selling shell necklaces. Starting price of 65rmb is usually about 20rmb. The ski lift to the island was fun. Return was 40rmb and we felt safe enough. The island was fun. Rides advertised for 30rmb we got for 20rmb. Not many rides but enough to amuse the kids. They loved feeding the seals. 10rmb bought a little bowl of fish. One of the seals would clap and the other would spin around. They looked well fed although their enclosure upset my teen daughter a bit. I have seen a lot worse and thought it was not horrible. We walked up to the temple and I appreciated the lovely Buddha as The kids werent interested and Inhad a couple of moments to take some deep breaths and focus on being in the moment. Above that, the kids rang the big bell. When we were st the beach we could hear it being rung.back on the beach, it's really cool to see
The fishermen bring in their nets on their old wooden boats with their wives waiting to inspect the catch. Kites were amazing. People were incredibly friendly. Clean public toilets, fabulous seafood restaurants with no. Seafood options and pictures! Family of six, we ate and drank like kings for 350 rmb. Very happy to be staying here for a week. Safe and clean

The ski lift to Fairy Conch Island is worth the 40 RMB. You get to enjoy a peaceful, scenic ride over the ocean that is about 15 minutes (one-way). The island itself is just so-so with 4 or 5 carnival games (10 RMB per play). There is a bungee jump (180 RMB) and ATVs (not sure on price), but we did not try either of these.

My wife and I own an apartment on the 5th floor of a new condo in Nandaihe. It's about a ten minute bike ride to the beach which is really quite nice. You can walk northward from Nandaihe to a river (I've forgotten the name of it) and then take a detour over the coastal highway bridge about a quarter mile away and continue on to Bedaihe which is really much more beautiful. Many rich Chinese people and government officials have summer houses in that area along the beach. When you get near enough to them, you have to go around by the beach front road because the beach in front of them is off limits to the public. Nandaihe is now known as Bedaihe South and is undergoing rapid development. It won't be long until it's as pretty as Bedaihe but when we left in 2010 it was still mostly quite old, rundown, and dirty in the "down town" area. At that time, there were at least 15,000 new apartments that were so new or still under construction that no one lived in them yet. Our place was about 100 yards east of the main north-south street and about 200 yards south of the main east-west street. Wish I could remember their names. When we were there, they had just begun building a new train station which is probably finished by now. As in all the rest of China, the local mafia was in control of about everything but we never had any run ins with them. I have numerous pictures of down town and the beach.
We purchased our apartment in 2008 and spent some time there on and off until we left China in 2011. Now my wife's brother and sisters tend to it and use it on occasion. It is fully furnished with beautiful furniture, appliances, and big TV as well as our two new bikes. If anyone is interested in vacationing there, we could probably arrange it for a very reasonable fee. Contact me at mr_mcclellan@lycos.com if you'd like a great experience at one of China's most luxurious northern beach areas.
We weren't actually there in 2011 but we were there in June of 2010.

There should be less expectations for this beach. It cannot be compared with the beaches of many countries. However, it is nice for this area.
Sand is especially good. Sea is not so impressive. Organisation of government at the seaside is very good

Nice sandy beach. I visited during peak period but it was not overly crowded. Apart from one of those loud speaker adverts, it was reasonably quiet.
