Return ticket to the island cost 144rmb, passports required, or photo of passport on phone.
20 minute ferry trip, fleet of 6 ferries shuttling back and forth between this small island. Last ferry off the island 18:00.
Only one swimming beach, and only allowed to swim in one small roped off area. Jellyfish in the area as my wife found out. Security guards with with loud whistles keeping people (influencer's?) from climbing on rocks for "that" selfie.
Limited (very) food option's for families with picky children. Everything charged for.
Been once would not bother to come again.
Rated 3 for the veiws

I have been overall pleasantly surprised by Sanya as it has some pretty cool stuff to do besides a clean beach with nice hotels. So I went to Wuzhizhou with some level of expectation since it was reviewed so highly on CTrip. I now stand corrected and realize that, like the island, most of the reviews are likely manufactured. One reviewer who I thought was probably just grouchy said that it’s just designed for selfies, and he or she was totally right. With names for random spots like “the trenches of love” (it is literally a small pit in the ground lined with concrete) and the “pathway of shade” (it is a shady 20-second walk up some stairs) you know you’ve walked into a classic Chinese tourist trap. It seems like the best options are probably overpriced water sports, riding in a helicopter, or wind “flying”. It’s really popular with mainlanders, so if selfies and riding around in a little overpriced shuttle-bus with googly eyes is your thing, do it. If not, save yourself 300rmb plus an expensive cab ride to get there. One star because it was awful, an extra star because it is pretty and it looks like someone put a lot of work into it.

This was a huge mistake! You are not allowed to swim anywhere besides one roped off area crammed with people. Try to relax on the beach and all you can hear is the security guards blasting their whistles telling people to get off the rocks or put of the water. Feels like an island prison. Not enjoyable at all. The beaches are perfect but no ones allowed to swim!!! What’s wrong here? Insanity. I’ve never been treated like a little child, not allowed to wade in the wade, why? Was told over and over too dangerous! There’s no waves, what’s the danger? Don’t ever come here unless you desperately need selfies of you standing on a beach in your street clothes and umbrella, face mask, and large hat.... also no one speaks English so prep your Chinese skills, 100% not for laowais.

Firstly expensive ferry ticket to somewhere you cannot swim. Lovely swimming pool but it’s only for diving lessons and wedding photos. Lovely beaches with soft sand but you can only baked in the sun and you touch the sea, you will be chased away by security. Reminded me of a refugee camp where are lots of people sleeping in restaurants and queueing for the water sports. If you’re going there to queue then please go but you want a realizing day on the beach then don’t bother. You’re better off saving the expensive 20 mins ride on a boat on a nice Gordon Ramsey meal in the Atlantis Hotel.

Was an ok place to visit, highly commercialized. I didn’t find the beach or water better than other places in Sanya. We did the water activities (banana boat, motor boat etc), it was fun, but three activities for RMB300 per person. I find it is quite expensive for a family.

Totally over commercialised to the point that it’s ruined. Also if you are a water family like us don’t go, there are literally signs all over saying no swimming, no climbing on rocks. We wanted to dive but was sold out by 9.30am. The bus rides are okay but expensive. If you enjoy walking about an island then go but if you love water and swimming then stay away. Back to Thailand next year can swim wherever. Shame.

An absolutely shocking place. There is barely any beach with shade, considering it hits temperatures of Thailand and Vietnam.
Only geared up for water sports. Cannot swim in the main pool because of Covid but they can hold diving lessons- go figure. They are also happy to cram ferries full of people. Oh, but the public pool is open, clearly because Covid has been told it cannot go in there so that’s OK.
Beach is inaccessible to swim throughout.
Waste of a ticket. Stay at your resort and save your time and money

Nice island retreat (especially for lovers, with the signs and statue of two lovers) with beautiful sandy beach. It was fairly windy during our visit. Not many tourists at this time of year and we saw no foreigners (at least not obviously evident).

I have been to Wuzhizhou island many many years ago. The beauty of this small island printed in my memory. Crystal water, peaceful, quiet, and you will see thousands of sea unchin, tons of fish if you swim around 100m away the beach. At that time, there's nothing on the island but a small temple. But when i went there this time, I almost cried. Later i know a chinese new money bought this island for 70 years. Apparently, he tries as much as he can, to make this island to a money making machine regardless how this island will be ruined. Thousands of tourist rush to this tiny island. Boat operates every few minutes. There's no place to swim. People squeeze in a tuna can. Speedboat, water moto bike are everywhere on the water of the front beach. If you pay RMB1399, you can do everything in the price list. Diving, speed boat, anything! As long as you pay! They also build a hotel, tons of food stands. They charge everything, shower RMB30, towel 20RMB, sun bench RMB150/hour. This place use to be so peaceful, natural. And now it's so ugly with buildings made of cheap material - plastic, thin wood... imagine after 70 years, what this island will turn to... I feel extremely sad. But the responsibilities is not just on the developer, but on us. As a tourist we are seeking for experience without knowing that how our behavior impact the environment. And in place like China, there's no sufficient mechanism for people to voice out, to protect their own home.

I wouldn't suggest any international travelers to go there. The high rating comes from Chinese travelers who are used to large crowds. Part of the island is closed off and you cannot walk around it. You are not allowed to climb on the rocks or do anything interesting. We waited in long lines to get on the ship and return. The price is not worth it.
