The families sending off of their sons to work in a far away land and their home coming are depicted in statutes. More evidently are the buildings along both sides of the pedestrian street. It’s a place to visit to understand the economic struggles faced...More

The street is about one km with well preserved pre-war (1920s -1940s) shops on both sides of the street. The facades are well preserved and restored. The street is clean and no motors vehicles, pedestrians could walk freely at leisure pace. There are a dozen...More

Woke up early one morning to explore the area before a business meeting, and I was pleasantly surprised. The old Qilou architecture along the street and on neighboring streets is beautifully preserved, giving it a very authentic feel. In addition, despite this being one of...More

I had a great time walking down the street. Took me back in time. Historic and cultural. People were friendly.

Interesting architecture within a large city like Haikou. Old style buildings with many trees growing on the side of them. The shops though are not that interesting and there is really not much to see apart from the buildings.

A bit disappointing, there is not much to do or see. Buildings are not well preserved. I'd recommend dropping by the "Mazu" temple in one of these houses

The buildings designs are very typical of Southeast Asia such as old Singapore and Hong Kong in the 1940s. There are many eateries offering traditional Hainan cuisine and street food. Going through the area is like going back to Haikou of 1940s.

I suppose this was the starting point of the old street, but couldn't see the rest. Maybe I missed a secret path/entrance, or the old street has been torn down. Anyways this place is a food court, with several restaurants around. It has a stage...More

First of all, don't mix up 骑楼老街 with 骑楼小吃街! They are two different places. This place basically got nothing much, take a short walk and had dinner there. The few restaurants there are basically selling wenchang chicken as their signature dish at reasonable price. Shops...More
