A cool place up in the Mountain

it was our first stop right after my Aunt and Uncle got us from the Train Station! The place is so peaceful, very peaceful despite a few visitors during that weekday. The air was... read more

As a local Fuzhou guy, I love hiking Gushan growing up. Now on every vacation back home, I always hike Gushan two to three times a week to keep me in shape. I can give advices for those who want to hike the mountain for fun or exercise. There are three trails up to the same destination--west, center and east... More

Want to get out of the buzzling city? Easy reach by public bus? Have some help to get up hill? Well, Gushan mountain is a choice. And the cable car makes it easy! Once u ascend you get an impressive view on the conglomerate called Fuzhou, it's high ways and apartment towers. The downside? Again: too many folks and they... More

This is definitely a beautiful and awe inspiring place to visit. So much to see from ancient times. I was surprised to see how many people were actually walking the trail to the top. There are over 2100 steps with 10 resting stations along the pay. Yes it is very step and I was surprised at how many people were... More

it was our first stop right after my Aunt and Uncle got us from the Train Station! The place is so peaceful, very peaceful despite a few visitors during that weekday. The air was fresh and clean, the plants as alive as ever, the calm and peace that the place emits just stays with you even after days! Hope I... More

close distance to city with a few direct bus lines into the city. Easy hike with amazing city views. If you hike higher and pay an entrance fee, you see a temple with caligraph.

Ok you can get a number of different buses inc. 7 and 73 and it only cost 1 rmb. Then if you want the easy option hop on one of the grey minivans for 7 rmb subject to a full load of 6 people, and they will drive you up to the temple. The temple is worth the effort, as... More

Loved it...best to have lunch at the vegetarian restaurant situated next to the temple. It is very relaxing and the walk around the temple is very refreshing.

I was hoping for a mountain hike to see some Chinese flora and fauna, but in reality Drum Mountain is more of a city park, which is very crowded. There are gondolas which can take you to the top, but they were mostly unused and didn’t really strike me as being safe. It was nice, but for the pain in... More

Bottom line, if you are going for the view, make sure you can clearly see the tops of the skyscrapers in town before you go, otherwise mostly a wasted trip unless you like to hike. And hike you can, many trails around and to the top, not font try unless you are in quite good shape. It's roughly 3000 steps... More

it's easy to see why the locals love mountains - they have so many and they all have steps all the way to the top usually. this one even has a nice temple halfway up too!
