Shoushan Stone Sculpture is one of the folk carving techniques of China. It has rich, skilled and mature carving techniques which further integrate the carving techniques and arts of traditional Chinese painting and different folk craftworks in the process of development. Fuzhou's Shoushan Stone Sculpture is honored as "Three Wonders of Fuzhou" together with the bodiless lacquerware and cork picture. As a traditional folk carving art, it has the Shoushan Stone originating from the Northern Peak in the northern mountains of Fuzhou as the raw material which is carved into small-size sculptures for fun with special techniques. Shoushan Stone Sculpture very much emphasizes the design of sculpture profile in line with the natural profile of the stone and therefore "a good profile is equivalent to nine times carving work". The carving techniques are primarily circulated in Gushan, Yuefeng Town, Xiangyuan, Wangzhuang Block and Shoushan Xiang of Jin'an District.

Shoushan Rock Museum has a full display of the culture of Shoushan Rock. As the first museum of Shoushan Rock, it has far-reaching emblematic significance. Located in Shoushan Village, Beifeng in the northern suburbs of Fuzhou, it is about 28km away from downtown Fuzhou. The show hall comprises three floors. The first floor is the pavilion that displays the culture and history of Shoushan Rock; the second floor is the pavilion that displays the original Shoushan Rock; the third floor is the pavilion that shows the masterpieces of famous Shoushan Rock sculptors. It is the only government-sponsored professional museum displaying Shoushan Rock in an all-around manner in China.
