Walking along the seafront, nice part of Punta Arenas, among the many monuments we saw this one. It's a brone monuments depicting the ship surrounded by marmaids and males. We liked it , good pictures with the beautiful sea in the background in a sunny day.

A monument in concrete and bronze depicting seafarers and the ancient sea folk once thought to inhabit these waters. Intricate and full of perceived movements.
Set on a pleasant walkway along the shoreline of Punta Arenas with other monuments and views out to sea.
Worth a short stop and making the target of a walking tour.

Nice place to walk around and breathe the pure air (especially if you live in a polluted city). Plenty of space to walk. Large area with places to go down to the water. The monuments are just that: monuments.

This spectacular monument is an impressive mix of concrete with bronze statues depicting the early seafarers who discovered and lived here. The walkway alongside the sea leading up-to this monument offers some great views of the surroundings. Plenty of photo opportunities for any traveler in Punta Arenas.

If you are doing a walking tour of the local area you will most certainly come across this very impressive statue / monument. It depicts a ship surrounded by mermaids and their male equivalent. It is very well maintained and captivating in its style. Great photograph opportunity as well.

Worth a quick stop. The monument shows part of a seafaring crew with mermaids and mermen swimming on the underside. I'm not really sure of the intended significance but it is certainly interesting.

The Costanera del Estrecho is without a doubt one of the most intriguing monuments I think I've ever seen. It's easy to get lost in all of the perceived movement of each of the characters within the monument.
Don't miss it.

Certainly a must see while in Punta Arenas. This is one of the more elaborate statutes I have ever witnessed. It is really beautiful and quite well appointed. The ocean front backdrop makes all the more special.

One of my favorite monuments in Punta Arenas. It depicts the forward pat of a seafaring crew with mermaids and mermen swimming on the underside. Worth a quick stop to see.

BOTTOM LINE: Nice strolling boardwalk. Loved this ship monument. Luckily the government protesters have not defiled this area. You'll probable stop here or drive by this monument if on a city tour. MY RATING:
