The Present Royal Residence looks nice with its large extensive gardens & wonderful for the `Bat`lovers which can be seen in abundance on the garden trees ! Worth only watching only when strolling past the building ! What a fall from the grand ancient Royal Palace, the ruins of which i saw along with Phimeneaks built by Suryavarman i built... More

The view from the road suggests a very nice holiday home for the king. However that is all you can see as his majesty doesn't allow visitors inside. Opposite are the palace gardens which you can visit but although they are quite nice, beautiful trees and a fountain, you will have to suffer the hordes of postcard selling children that... More

You can't enter, so what you see in the photos is pretty much it. There are some bats in the trees nearby in broad daylight which is pretty cool I guess. We were harassed a lot by beggers unfortunately. We also had a guy walk up to us and try to get a 'donation' for a school he's setting up... More

There is no entry to the building, you either drive or walk past. I managed to get a photo of the large sign outside, but received glares when I tried to photograph the building and gardens. I had the distinct feeling that I was in a NO-NO situation with my camera. It is not a huge building but definitely a... More

The Royal Residence, or the Royal Palace as it is often called in tourist brochures, is the Siem Reap home of Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni when he is in town. Normally he lives in a far more prestigious palace in Phnom Penh. You can only look at the outside of the residence, so a visit here is only of passing... More

We drove pass and if the guide did not say it's a royal residence, I would have though it was another government building... It's such an inauspicious building consider its a living and operational building used by the royal family when they visit Siem reap

This site is for walking by only; you may not go inside. It is worth looking at if you're already in town anyway, so I'd recommend it.

The Royal Residence is of historic importance, because here the French rulers transferred the sovereignty to the King of Cambodia and the Cambodian people. However, the building is only to be admired from the outside. However, the large Royal Gardens in front of the Residence is a public place and here are a number of fruit trees, where an untold... As we didn't go to Phenom Penh on this trip, I would have loved to visit the Royal Residence, but unfortunately it is not open to the public. Perhaps this might be worth considering by the Cambodian Government to open parts of the Royal Residence when His Majesty is not in residence.

We stayed at the Victoria Angkor Resort and walked through Royal Park on our way along the river to Old Market. As we passed the attractive Royal Residence, I took a photo. But we also looked up to the top of the tall trees nearby in Royal Park, as we were told that bats hang out there. They do! There... More
