We were lucky to visit this place in march 2022 when only a few tourists visited Cambodia after the lockdowns. The pictures we got with minimal tourism was awesome.
Based from this experience I would highly recommend you to visit during the early hours of the day, ideally on sunrise.
The temple and surroundings just makes you speechless. One of the most amazing places I have visited.

There is no sense in me leaving photos here or discussing what you will see there as there are thousands of reviews, with many photos, and many websites that describe Angkor Wat.
This is a must see! It is INCREDIBLE. It is BEAUTIFUL. You feel the history of the place the moment you enter the complex.
The monkeys that roam around the complex is an added bonus.
Despite others saying that you need many hours to view this site, you will only need two-three hours or less to view this site (unless you are very must into history and want to read every bit of writing on the walls and see every inch of the place). I do not understand some of the messages I see on Social Media platforms where people are asking if 2-3 days is enough to see Angkor Wat.
I am very much into history but after two-three hours of looking at what is remaining of the Temple, you say to yourself, I have seen enough. I am NOT saying that it is not worth see and I consider this a mandatory must see for anyone in the region and if you are not in the region, it is definitely a reason to travel here.
Seeing Angkor Wat was definitely a highlight of the seven-day bike tour ending in that region.

A timeless wonder and after reading so much about it since school, it's enduring grandeur and scale of the wall carvings in particular bear testimony to the military economic might of Surya Varman the then ruler. But you would need a guide to appreciate the visit
We were fortunate in having Mr Ke Nit Rip from Siem Reap itself who was fluent in English and knowledgeable about the historical sites. Further he was a friendly person and provided good company and assistance...

This is a must see. My Guide was incredible. He was patient and kinds and able to explain so much about the history and importance of everything. (unfortunately I have misplaced his name but you can find him thru Green Era travel) People from all over come to see this and it is worth it.

I'm an archeology buff. I've been to archeology sites and ruins in many countries. But I had never come to Cambodia. I had studied about this site. I'm in Cambodia because if it, though I will travel around the country to observe and enjoy other interesting sites. We had a good guide. Very knowledgeable.

The Angkor Archaeological Park encompasses a site of ancient Khmer cities from the 9th to 16th centuries, comprised of more that 100 significant monuments. The crown jewel of this UNESCO World Heritage Site? Angkor Wat! Not only known as the symbol of Cambodia, Angkor Wat holds the honor of being the largest religious monument in the world. With that in mind, give yourself enough time to soak in the beauty, architecture, and history of this Hindu-Buddhist temple. We made visits over two days at different times. Sunrise offers incredible lighting; in the late afternoon, the setting sun illuminates the façade. The weather is going to make or break your visit here.

On day 3, will you go back to Temples or start back to Bangkok? Roughly what time would we expect to get back to the city?

Yes, there is one area with steep steps at the back of the compound in which you can see the view from the top, but it is in no way mandatory to do. The steps up to the first floor if I remember correctly are a little high but are in no way near as challenging as the ones I mentioned previously.
Also, you don't have to necessarily go inside the compound as the walk around it is plenty beautiful as well. There are quite a few gorgeous temples in the immediate area that don't have many steps either like Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm.

Has anyone visited more recently than Graham G below? Whilst not wanting to scaremonger I do worry about being packed into a crowded tourist site with visitors who may have come from countries where Coronovirus is prevalent. Very grateful for an update on bio security at the site from those who work there or who have visited in the past few days.

Hello, we’re just there yesterday. Empty sites everywhere. You will still encounter small handful westerners tourists and asians. We took lots of good pictures with blank (no tourists) passing behind you. Still take precautions, wash your hands often, sanitized your hands/ lunch table/ utensils.

We did 3 temples in one day and that was a good taste of that experience for us. $100US for a driver and guide, air conditioned car and water. The admission fee is $37US per person.
Hi, when did you travel to Ang Kor Wat? If on Feb 2020, how was the situation there after the CoronoVirus outbreak? Do you feel still safe to travel to Cambodia? Please advise as we had booked everything last year for next week travelling but still thinking whether to postpone or cancel the trip.

We went Monday for 1 night...of course the outbreak is still apparently fast moving but we saw few signs. We're back in Thailand now and face masks are much more in evidence here. Angkor Wat was packed with visitors from all parts of the globe with no suggestion of a slow down. We were fastidious with hand wipes etc as per normal when handling cash etc We passed thru temp scanners at both airport and train stations but that's all...enjoy!

I hear the Northern reflection lake (for the classic + best sunrise shot) is currently closed (Jan 20). Does anyone know when it reopens??
I see the shots from the alternate Southern lake are OK but not so good. Am thinking of not bothering with the sunrise if its still closed when we go. Thanks in advance.

You're not guaranteed the iconic photograph as even a light breeze disturbs the pond enough to destroy any reflection.
