Realy only four towers to the old temple, quite a bit of scaffolding supporting them, some very nice ornate carving to the doorways and lintels, nice to see inside the new modern temple adjacent to old one with very bright decoration.would not go out of my way for this temple if tight for time, plenty better ones to visit.

Similar to preah ko so if you're short of time do one or the other. Consists of 4 small temples one for each member of the ruling family at that time. Restoration work is on going and what has been done is pretty impressive.

Restoration work has been progressing since reviews of a few years ago advised to give it a miss for a few years. However, it has now progressed to a point where a visit is more worthwhile. One thing lacking at this site though is an idea of what the temple looked like before restoration. The reviews on this site suggests a lot of work has gone into it, so, from what start point?

This building is ugly, inaccessible, and covered in scaffolding.

Try again in 5 years when it's been cleaned up.

Nothing to see here, folks... move along

Lolei was one of the earliest temple in the area, but unfortunately under restoration and cordoned off so there really was not much to see. You could still get a peep of some of the carvings.

One of the oldest temples in the tourist circuit in Siem Reap, Lolei is part of the Roluous group of temples that are situated in what was called as Hariharalaya.

Temple was built in the memory of forefathers. There are 4 towers. The towers in the front have male guardians on carved on the wall and the ones behind have female guardians.
Unfortunately the towers are in bad condition and renovation work is going on.. If you are short of time, you can give this temple a miss.

Around 16kms from SiemReap , you get a good drive along the nice natural scenery.

This one of the 3 Temples you'll visit in the Rolous group.
As much as Bakong Temple is amazing and Preah Ko still nice (however much much smaller) this one Lolei is really not worth stopping by and I would even dare to say not passing by.
By the way many of the pictures posted here are of Preah Ko and might lure you into going to Lolei.
Just save your time and after having vsisted Bakong, get back to Siam Reap, it is almost one hour drive in your tuktuk and the drive is not always enjoyable (no AC if hot)

Yes, the temple is very small and under renovation but we were very happy that we made it to here. We visited Lolei as part of tour to the temples in this area. As soon as you leave the overcrowded 'famous' Ankor temples behind you, the scenery becomes so relaxing and tranquil and we enjoyed the small temples in the area very much.
Please do visit the 'Lolei and Kouk Trach Leaning Center' which is right behind the temple (they will probably approach you anyway - in a very polite manner). We were amazed about how little money can make such a tremendous impact on the lives of the orphans. Please give generously.

The last temple to be built in the ancient Khmer capital of Hariharalaya, the temple is dedicated to the King's ancestors and the Hindu god Shiva. It consists of four towers on a platform. The four towers represent the King's grandparents and parents.

The temple was built of brick and is mostly in ruins. Restoration is ongoing and when I visited, it was covered in scaffolding and parts of the towers were supported by wooden beams. However even in its current dilapidated state, its former glory is evident in its intricate carvings, decorative lintels and false doors.

Next to the temple is a Buddhist monastery.

The temple is part of the Roulos group and is a bit far from Siem Reap. So is not too crowded. You can visit is as part of a tour of the Roulos temples.
