Entertaining? Well, to someone not yet clued in to what's really going on -- yes, it's adorable. The ACODO children are taken from their poverty-stricken families for a small payment to act like orphans, and generate large profits. The revenue does not provide much (if any) long term benefit to the children or their families.

While researching things to do in Phnom Penh, I came across the Khmer traditional dance performance and was immediately interested. My husband wasn't too thrilled to go but was singing a different tune afterwards! The dancing and music were incredible! Dancers changed their vibrant and ornate costumes several times. The percussion was upbeat and energetic. There were comedic elements to... More

First night in Siem Reap, thought to learn of local cultures and traditions and what better way to explore so? Of course through food and performance. So I chose this as a birthday celebration for two friends, as a group of 6 of us went to this place. USD12 per person (we paid 10USD as discount from hotel) for a buffet... More

This small orphanage just south of main roundabout provides a traditional cambodian dance and music show around 630pm most evenings. The children as performers are full of energy and also stay afterwards to meet the audience and to practise speaking english. Our audience was very small but the children still performed as if to a large crowd , the cost... More

This is a scam, the owners of this ' association ' are earning money by making children give a show every night. This is what an orphanage should be doing to help children. Please don't go there and close this page.

We visited two years ago. There see progress since our last visit with a new block of building at the rear of the land and paving on the floors. We enjoyed the performance by the children but there were only 6 very young children in total dancing. We were told that there is now a daily performance done by the... More

This Orphanage, easy to reach from the city centre of siem reap, is a wonderful place to visit! A really nice guide showed us whole house for the children, including school, stage, and a nice home for the children! They all seem to be very happy, and even if we were only 4 visitors watching them, they made a great... More

We strolled along to Acodo not quite knowing what to expect, to begin with we were shown the work being undertaken here by one of the young men that has been here for several years. He was telling us in beautifully spoken English what the aims and ambitions are for Acodo. He also told us of his ambitions, that is... More

I was so impressed with the orphans at Acodo. They put on an entertaining show which was well produced and interpreted for foreigners. These children are gorgeous and their dancing was very good. You can see that they really enjoy the interaction with visitors and there was absolutely no pressure to donate at all. When we learned about Acodo's promise... More
