Artisans Angkor is a Cambodian social business which was originally created to revive Khmer cultural heritage while helping young rural people finding work near their home village.Since its creation at the end of 1990s, Artisans Angkor has strived to provide professional skills to communities with limited educational opportunities and has offered good working conditions and social advantages to its employees. It has now opened 48 workshops in Siem Reap province and it provides employment to over 1100 people, including more than 800 artisans.Over the years, Artisans Angkor has become a real showcase of Khmer workmanship for its silk fabrics and garments, stone and wood carving, lacquer ware, polychrome products, silver plating and silk painting.

Seeing the workshop was nice. Not always sure how to feel when tours parade around a work space but this tour didn't intrude and gave visitors a nice idea of how the unique Cambodia trades are continuing and helping locals through training. There's no pressure to buy anything, there's water and fans to rest. The shopping area is beautifully designed... More

Fantastic opportunity to see traditional Khmer craft before your eyes. Touring the workshops you'll see everything from stone and wood carving to metal working and painting. Take the trip to the silk farm to see the intricate stages of silk production from worm to loom. Very rare to see the scope and facets of so much craft in such a... More

This is such a useful and interesting project helping a lot of people from the countryside learn a useful trade and get on in life. Just the gift shop is rather expensive. Wish the had small cheaper goods so at least we could buy something to support them.

Ostensibly a social enterprise, however from the prices it seems to be a luxury goods outlet - specially if one has been to other south east Asian countries like Vietnam, Indonesia etc. Having said that the quality, display and ambience is as it should be for luxury - opulent! If you are looking for cheap or reasonably priced good to... More

Artisans Angkor is a must see on your visit to Siem Reap. Fabulous experience watching the crafts people being trained as you walk through the various workshops. The gift shop at the end of the tour is exceptional. It was nice knowing that your purchases help to continue the organization.

Our tour of the silk factory was a unique experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the silk making process and he spoke English very well. The employees are at work while you tour the factory. The employees of the silk factory are hard at work and you get to watch the process of silk making from... More

This is a cultural & art centre for the handicapped people who have been mainly maimed by the numerous landmines planted through the length & breadth of Cambodia during the long civil wars. One sees the artists at work & there is also a shop from where one can buy their creations. The visit to the centre is free & worth the... We were brought here on our Siem Reap tour. First we were shown through the workshops where disadvantaged locals are taught specific crafts (like carving, painting etc). The tour ended in their store where we purchased a few silk items (which were the same price at the Siem Reap Airport store in the Departure area). They also have a Silk... More
