We had already seen how a Hindhu temple in Angkor Wat was converted into Budhist temple later on virtually stealing the World wonder by power. While they took the stones from the bottom of Kulan mountain to build Angkor Wat temple, they did some wonderful art work up the top.
Before we come to this, our tour guide took us to the water falls. He said the water runs through the 1000 lingas and reaches the fall. After we cooled down, we went to see the lingas. They have carved more than thousand lingas on the Rocky River bottom. Various sizes. Also, they have carved Vishnu laying down in happy sleeping position called Anandha Sayanam. Cambodian tour guide explained all these to us. All these carvings stood the test of time and overcame the religious conquests and politics.

If it was not easy to destroy them, how difficult it would have been to create them?

Such a fascinating place! Loved the whole experience with the hike in the jungle, the carvings and also the dip in the waterfall after!

I wished the guide could share the actual historical information of the place. I personally felt that the guide was not well equipped and repeated some basic information over and over again which was actually annoying. I am giving 5 stars to 1000 Lingas as you should not miss it when you are in Sem Reap. It's really amazing.

Great place to visit Angkor Wat and Bayon are top two places. If you have time visit Kulen Mountains nearby for Holy River, Thousand Linga, sleeping Buddha and a waterfall. Friendly city to wander around, not very expensive.
Daybreak at Angkor Wat is not to be missed.
But be careful, the heat and humidity can be killing depending on time of year you visit,

Complete waste of a day, There is nothing of any interest to see here and completely hyped up. It's not an hours walk but 5 mins max, you may see some of the carvings depending of the water level, flow and clarity even then hardly worth the entry fee's, transport costs and day out of your holiday, My advice would be to schedule an other day at Angkor Wat, which is worth very penny to go and visit.

If you like hiking go for this tour. Otherwise avoid. The carvings of the three gods on the riverbed is nothing to brag about. There’s a waterfall to cool off in after 1.6 I’m hike on a very steep and rocky terrain, not meant for the frail or elderly. Many better places to explore than this!

Although you may not be able to see it clearly but still its an interesting place, there are approx 1000 lingas and sculptures of Hindu God and Goddess which are engraved in stones under the river. This river gets dried out in Summer and with rain and winter river starts flowing again.

When we visited it was small stream of water and we could see various sculptures under the water include god and goddess sculpture.

Unique place

One Thousand Lingas carved into river bedrock about 800AD. A very tranquil river walk reveals all different sizes of Lingas. This is a pleasant walk which only takes about an hour.

If this place has spiritual meaning for you then I fully understand, otherwise it was a disappointing experience overall. We went in the dry season and was a small river with some stone cravings on the riverbed, well worn and underwhelming.

A great experience walking through jungle. You can stop to rest at places of your choice to sit, gaze and listen to how quiet the jungle can be. It was so quiet only with native birds/animals calling in the distance.

Once you reach the ancient 1000 Lingas and sculptures carved in the river bed, they are absolutely fascinating. We were lucky to have a clear river to see the carvings and Lingas.
The waterfall a is very pretty location too.

There are hidden access paths leading to lookouts to view across the jungle valley, which is is incredible! I stopped to sit on a massive boulder and gazed at the view for at least 10 mins. (Just me and the jungle).

Just for awareness, you probably will encounter up 15 local children waiting for you to return from the mountain (you’re exhausted) and they push quite hard to sell colourful ornaments for 1USD, if you so desire, or have the energy (to accept or refuse) after a hiking up and down the jungle mountain.

A beautiful adventure for the determined traveller, as some fitness and stamina is required for the hike and it can get quite steep.

Take plenty of water to drink, as in late October it’s a hot, steamy and thirsty climb.

I thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
