We took a boat trip cost $20 pp to the sunset place about 20 minutes with the tour guide, so we didn't get scam or cheating from the boat drivers. The sunset was amazing and we had good place to see from our boat. We recommend to visit with guide is the best way.

In my opinion this place is a scam! First they said we had to pay 20 dollar each to take boat to the floating Village. We paid and so far everything seems ok... But when we arrived right next to the floating village they said we had to change to a smaller boat to get inside the village and this would cost 40 dollar more. We would never in our lives pay 80 dollar for this trip and we refused to pay. Then they ask us to pay 20 dollar more for gasoline for the boat to take us around, and not inside the Village. This cannot be true with though, and refused to pay. They also ask for donnations and tip many times. Be aware that when you first pay 20 dollar for the ticket, this not include anything exept a short boattrip to a smaller boat that cost 40 dollar more for 2 persons.

Total scam. Good that we have pre-bought tickets for the tour with our driver. When we arrived some shady typo followed us to the boat and acted real friendly. Asked some questions and started to tell about "village". I suspected foul play - so stopped talking with him. When boat stopped in the lake I asked him whether he is tour guide. He declined. They dropped us on some floating restaurant with some crocodiles stacked in small cage with no water. Fancy place, but not much to see. We checked everything fast and then they just drove us back. 20 bucks for short ride on dirty river. And this all goes to some strange company which owns this place. I would not be surprised if all this village would be fake and company would not let these people to leave this horrible place just to keep them for tourist amazement... I regret that we took this tour. Avoid it by any means...

Accompanied friends on this boat ride on a rainy day. Obviously this is a gimmicky tourist trap, which for the record I am willing to overlook. However, the reason for this review is because our boat guide drove inappropriately under the water conditions and collided with docked boats. He not only endangered his own life he also endangered the residents of the village and of course us, his occupants, on the boat. What really annoys me the most about the whole experience is his inability to acknowledge his folly. He really didn't meaningfully apologize to anyone he endangered or affected.

This place is a total rip off . We don’t usually get caught out as we do a lot of travel, and we should have done some research . After paying to get on the muddy water for a 20 min boat ride. We got to the main platform and was advised we had to pay $20 each for the small boat around the so called floating village

One of the worst experiences!
Don't go!!!
Rented a boat for 28$ (doesn't matter if there is 1 or 8 people on board) and it was promised a 2 hour tour. We just drove to a place were crocodiles were held (in really really bad condition) and where you can buy souvenirs (they try to force you to do that. On the way back the boat driver asked for a tip and when I said no not for that, he got really angry and grumpy...
Boat tour was not even 1 hour long and staff at the entrance (security guide and the selling staff) were not helpful at all.
Just go if you want to waste your money.

It was great to see this unusual flaring villeage, something we do not see very often. Mwhen visiting make sure if you cash on you to tip people but also buy snack, pencils for children that you'll be able to give to children o ce you are taken to the village by small boat.
I had not smelt any foul smell even though it was very hot however you may, which can upset your stone due to lake not being clean.
Again, it's great to see such place and observe how people live.

Although it is true that the dry period is not the best time to visit Tonle Sap Lake. This visit was really disappointing, the environment was dirty with lots of plastic waste. Quick passage past a few floating houses including the school and the church, then straight into a floating shop which also serves drinks and holds a few poor crocodiles in a cramped place before ending up in a belt or wallet of dubious taste.

My wife and I wanted to go to the Tonle Sap lake, the floating village without our tour guide as the driver recommended but when we did I was disappointed. There were only about 30 floating houses and 2 or 3 boats shop sell things, and a crocodiles file. Do not visit this place.

Our boat left from a dock in Siem Reap River and headed into Tonle Sap Lake. Once there, all you see were neglect and dilapidated house boats. There were floating restaurants but we didn’t try any. There were also schools and houses of worship boats. Most interesting was seeing herds of water buffalos grazing along the Siem Reap River.

Hi Julie, we were also ripped off/ scammed here. I am going to continue to review this trip at least once a month, hope you will also do so cos the sooner we can stop other people being sucked in by this trip the better.
More importantly to stop the kids in the "orphanage " school being exploited if VERY important to me
Have never ever had a worse experience in years & years of travelling in Asia.

Someone needs to do something about this!! I am worried about the fake orphans on the boat, I don't know if they are real, or they are being held as hostage by those bastard tour guides!

It’s a total scam run by local mafia, designed to fleece tourists... stay away!
