This place is really far from the temples at the Angkor complex. It took us almost an hour by car. Hiked all the way up to find stone carvings by ancient Khmer. At the top, there’s a falls where hikers and kids can swim. Honestly,...More

We visited Kbal Spean in April 2014. After an overdose of temples in Siem Reap, I wasn't very keen on a 2 - 3 km trek to visit yet another temple. But ultimately, we decided to not miss this one and trekked up to this...More

The site consists of a series of stone rock relief carvings and sculptures in sandstone formations of the river bed and banks. It is commonly known as the "Valley of a 1000 Lingas" or "The River of a Thousand Lingas". The motifs for stone carvings...More

It took us about an hour to go up and come down from Kbol Spean. It's not a high mountain, more like a hill at 1500m. The walk up was easy enough - it's not a steep climb and there are rest stops along the...More

Was fun to get out of the city and temple complex a bit. Nice to see countryside on way out and do some hiking. Hike wasn't hard, but not a fully cleared trail some westerners might be used to. Really enjoyable though. The sites themselves...More

To get to this place, you need to climb up for quite a while, so wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring enough sunscreen! Up there, the view is great as Kbal Spean is dated from ancient time and is remarkable to see that it's still...More

This place is definitely worth the effort of visiting. It is a 45 min journey from Siem Reap and then there is an uphill 1500m trek. At the top is a disappointingly small waterfall but in the rocks there are amazing carvings, the like of...More

The entrance is easily accesible by motorbike and it's actually a really nice ride there. To be clear: It's not a super exhausting hike like all these people here (presumably Americans?) exaggeratively describe. It is a maximum 30-minute hike if you are in average shape....More

No, but it would be quite hot and tiring. PLUS from the base of the hill you have to climb anyway. And that is for at least 45 minutes. So it's preferable to hire a car.
