After the magnificent Angkor temple site, Kbal Spaen about 40 mins from Siem Reap is a tranquil setting in lush jungle. If you are quiet be sure to gaze upwards to see monkeys and squirrels. Incredible! Butterflies, birds, huge vines, magnificent massive trees and views....More

We hired a car to do a combined trip to Banteay Srei and Kbal Spean. It is entirely possible to go by tuk-tuk or motor-bike, but it's quite a round-trip and we appreciated the air-con after completing the hike to Kbal Spean. (From memory I...More

To get to the site you have to walk up the side of a mountain...up trails, over rocky areas, and only a couple wooden stairs to help you. By the time you reach the top you will be sweaty and tired...but it will be worth...More

I have been to Kbal Spean several times. It is a nice walk, though I would highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothes. Take plenty of water and some snacks to refuel once you reach the top! It can be difficult walking up and down...More

Its a refreshing hike about 2km uphill to reach the river bed. The scenery filled with climbing trees and large stones will keep you entertained along the way. Do bring some light refreshments and have a picnic at the benches by the river bed. It...More

A demanding trek to see the 1000 Lingas embedded in a small rivulet is worth every minute. The sight is awesome once you reach the top. Not to miss adventure, yes remember to put on your jogging or sports shoes as the track is definitely...More

If you are not willing to make a pretty strenuous hike uphill and over rocks to see the carvings, then don't go. If you are ready for a nice hike, then this is well worth it. The hike up is through some beautiful jungle on...More

The stream with a care river bed is just amazing. It's a 1.5 km rough track with some steep climbs through magical woods. Get there early - as the magic diminishes with more people and the paths are quite narrow. Best to go by car...More

No, but it would be quite hot and tiring. PLUS from the base of the hill you have to climb anyway. And that is for at least 45 minutes. So it's preferable to hire a car.
