This river that snakes through Siem Reap is a peaceful place in a bustling city. A great place to wander along and people watch, there are plenty of refreshment and food stalls to enjoy as well as areas to rest. One great thing about this river is the bridges that cross the river. They are only short but picturesque and very photogenic.

I,ve lived in siem reap for nearly four months and a long walk along this quiet peaceful river is something I really enjoy. Plenty of shade under the trees and to sit and watch people occasionally fishing was nice. If you,re really hungry or thirsty there are plenty of stalls selling all sorts. Granted there is a lack of flow during the dry season but the water is clear and plenty of small fish, not so sure about any big ones.

This is the river that runs through the heart of Siem Reap. We crossed it a few times whilst heading to the different parts of town. It’s nice at night when there’s some light decorations floating in the river

The Siem Reap River transects the small city and provides some areas to sit and rest your feet as well as fair walking path over long stretches that make for decent walking areas. There are a few sculptures in the grassy area and river banks as well as some good landscaping near some of the nicer properties nearer to the city centre.
The river waters weren't very clean or attractive, perhaps due to the stagnant conditions of the dry season (January) when we visited. There are numerous small crossings over the river linking the east and west side of Siem Reap. Some bridges are more attractive than others, including the one at Aspara Circle just southeast of the Royal Independence Garden. The small footbridge linking the Art Centre and Old Market in the city centre is nice as well.

Not really an attraction and if you're in Siem Reap and aren't blind, you won't be able to miss it as it passes through the town. Some parts of the river is lovely and closer to the Royal Gardens, the locals exercise there in the evening and good place to take shade during the hot sun.

I can only go with the current period as at this time the river has no flow, covered in green algae and rubbish. It stinks.
It it however pretty along the river with parks and good lighting at night. Plenty of 'cute' bridge crossings along its length through town. As I said when there is no rain and no flow, it Stinks.

Siem Reap River runs through the Siem Reap city. Whether you go towards Angkor enterprise ticketing office (tuk tuk drivers take along the river road) or while visiting temples or markets in the city, you will go along side the Siem reap river.
Siem Reap River has parkways both the sides. Many temples/pagodas and market places are located near along the river side. At many points bridges connect both the sides of the river. Though it is not a wide and big river, the beautification along the river side makes it an attraction.
In city side, some of the main attractions near the river are Royal palace, Royal independence garden, Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chom Temple (Two sisters temple), Wat Preah Prom Rath temple, Psar Chaa - Old Market, etc.

Siem Reap river presents a nice environment in the evenings and at night when the temperatures are more bearable. The lightining, bridges make for a nice evening stroll, especially with your partner. Even in day time it was okay, but not as much fun as at dusk.
