Is a municipal reserve of exceptional beauty. The main attractiveness of this place is the dessert like sand dunes, surrounded by bodies of water and natural forest, that is the natural habitat of several species of birds, mammals and reptiles.

We organized in the hostel a tour to this park and it was a really nice experience, just 40 minutes from town by car, here you see a lot of nature, sloths and the principal activity the sundboarding activity.

Whilst we went their to get in some sandboarding, the dunes stretch for 25km north to south and are a few hundred metres wide. The area/infastructre is underdeveloped and getting into the are requires a 4wd or very long 1hr hike from the road/dirt track access point. There is some great camping to be had and lots of flora and... More

You have 2 choices now.... 1) catch the bus and take a very long walk in or 2) a tour company's 4wd. Unfortunately if it is windy or slightly wet tour company's will not go there. The place is magical and worthy as a base to hike along and around the dunes. Een an overnight camp. The lagoons have dried... More

Take bus 106 or 21 (linea azul), get the application cruzero on your phone to find out where you can get on. Ask to be dropped at the entrada a las lomas (next to a little market). Entrance is 10bs but the lomas are 7 km from the entrance. If you're lucky you can catch a ride but otherwise it's... More

We visited here during a visit to Santa Cruz in late September. The landscapes in the park are certainly spectacular but the surrounding area is full of encroaching poor quality housing and small commercial enterprises - bordering on squatter slums. Nevertheless, it's worth coming to see the sand dunes and other interesting areas.

I am a nature photographer and I used to visit this place at least once a year. Since 2013 I couldn't go for various reasons, but last month I went there. I was amazed to see how the neighborhoods that surround this protected park have grown. Lastimously they are full of dirt, plastic bags flying, dogs, stagnant water in the... More

If you can get here, it is one of the most cinematic places. Try coming here around sunset and you can get some gorgeous shots that will make you look like you're in the middle of the desert. It's a bit hard to get to because each time I come here, the cabs have to take a new route. Last... More

Great landscape! Worth to visit! Take a long trousers and light jacket to protect your self from the wind and strong sun!
