We have been here many times and have had a blast. But this time was so disappointing. 3 diffrent times we encountered rude staff members! I get that they may be over worked BUT that is not an excuse to be plain rude to guests. The food/snack area is closed but there is still no reentry so if your kid is hungry you can t just go to the food court and come back. Many other parents complained as well. And It seemed there were alot less legos in the activity areas. They advertised a halloween them but honestly there was barely any decorations. They added a few pumpkins and witches to the city display and the ghost busters but thats it...

We loved this place. Our twins are 5 years old and there was something for everyone. We went on a Saturday which would probably be a busy time here? With that being said it was not overcrowded and everything was well organized. A tip would be if you are going to get something to eat I would do it here vs the food court because the prices are similar and the time we went it was hard to get a table in the food court. In legoland food area there were plenty of seats and tables and less chaos than the food court in the mall. Also definitely check out the movie!

Wear or bring socks! My husband and I took our 5 & 3 year olds on a weekday afternoon. It's been open for months so the crowd has died down. We purchased our tickets online during the promo, purchase 1 adult ticket and get 1 free child admission. That saved us $47. The cashier that scanned our tickets gave us no direction and just told us to go through the entryway where we were unclear on where to stand since other patrons were assigned a colored circle. You are then sent into a room with large screens and watch a interactive cartoon type Lego factory show before entering the main attraction area. There are 2 rides, the 1st one is a shooting game somewhat similar to Toy Story Midway Mania at WDW. The 2nd ride spins in circles, requires pedaling and has a height requirement. Both our children were able to ride but only with us (an adult) riding it as well. There's an area for smaller children with large soft plastic blocks and a small duplo type house with a tunnel slide. There really isn't much to do for the under 3 crowd in my opinion. The Lego Friends area was cute with prebuilt structures and stations to build at. There were large Friends to take pictures with but no small ones to play with in the area or if there were at one time, they are all gone now. Next we went to the Build & Test area where you can build a car and race it down a few ramps. This area was a bit messy with Legos all over the floor. Kids were jumping on the ramps and blocking the cars other kids were trying to race. No parents around telling their kids to get off nor employee around to keep kids off the tracks. There's also another area to build Lego towers and test how easy it will fall down. The 4D Chima movie was cute and we did get a little wet with "raindrops" from water falling during the rain scene. After the movie my kids played for a long time in the gated off play structure area that resembles a police station, fire station and construction site. This area requires socks and I did see an employee telling parents that their kids have to wear socks in that area. The food/cafeteria area sits center in the venue and we did not eat at it. We opted to eat in the mall. The area with the Detroit city scape was very cool to look at and the room goes from daytime to nighttime mode periodically. A few of the scenes including Comerica Park and Ford Field were interactive with buttons to push. Once you exit you are in the Lego gift shop where they have all kinds of Lego sets and items. You can also access the Lego store without attending Legoland. Overall, my kids enjoyed their trip there. It was great for their ages. Under 3 wouldn't appreciate it nor is there much for them to do. I can also see how kids ages 10 and up may be bored after about an hour. I probably won't go again unless we purchase tickets during a promo to save money. I don't agree with the $23.50 adult admission price since were mainly sitting around just watching our kids. I am also very happy we went while it was not busy. I know we would have NOT enjoyed it as much as we did. I would personally not want to wait more than 20 minutes per ride for what was offered. We spent about 3 hours there total. If making the trip from far away make sure you make a day of it and purchase the Sea Life Aquarium/Legoland combo and there is also a Rainforest Cafe to eat at in the mall.

Definitely not worth the money! There were some cool aspects like the sections with legos that built the big city (Detroit). The cafe was closed and you don’t know until you’re already there, so you could bring in snacks and water but like previously noted you didn’t know until you got there. There were a couple little stations inside but they were little so not many people could do each of things without being on top of other folks. They have you pick a time slot but there’s no limit on time, so they were over packed. What they did have, didn’t justify the price.

I had my son’s 6th Birthday party at Legoland and unfortunately, we ran into nothing but problems. The whole process was inflexible, and the treatment was poor.

Most significantly, Legoland will not allow parents to walk into the facility to pick up their child – nor do they have any other solution as to how the parent of the birthday kid is supposed to deliver 16 party guests ages 6 and 7 (in my case) to their respective parent. Unless or until Legoland comes up with a process for allowing parents to reconnect with their child after the party I do not recommend booking a party at Legoland. Trust me, being responsible for 16 kids cut loose into a Great Lakes Crossing mall is terrifying.

When I reserved the birthday party I paid for the minimum of 15 kids. Subsequently, about two weeks before the party, I sent in my final numbers which included additional kids. I was not asked to pay for the extra children ahead of time, despite being in email and phone communication with a Legoland party planner. As a result, I figured I would take care of any additional charges when we left. Nope. Not how it worked. Instead, my husband left the party room to wait for the last of the straggling party guests and they would not let him re-enter with the last 3 guests until he paid the price of admission! I was absolutely floored. My husband having no idea what financial arrangement I had worked out was stuck outside my son’s party with several guests unable to reenter. Finally, my husband was allowed to return to the party escorted by a security guard – who proceeded to pull me out of the party to handle the financial arrangements. I had to take time away from my son’s party to walk through the numbers with this lady to determine the final amount due. Legoland absolutely refused to allow me to handle the bill at the end of the party nor did they request final payment before the party started. Instead caused my husband and I to miss about 20 minutes (total) of my kid’s party over a total of $27. It was awful.

A couple other things to be aware of:
(1) You cannot bring in your own food. Don’t think they will allow any small exceptions to this rule (or any other rule). They won’t.
(2) Despite knowing the age of the birthday boy (6), I was provided with Coke and Diet Coke to serve with the Pizza. I had to battle with the food lady in order to switch these caffeinated beverages for lemonade. This was the only battle that I won with Legoland – but it was a battle that would have been unnecessary had Legoland planned appropriately for the age of the scheduled party group.
(3) The cake will not have your child’s name on it, nor are you allowed to use a candle.
(4) The party room is pretty boring, and the free Lego set for each guest is tiny.

All in, I have to say that Legoland’s inflexibility and failure to provide a functioning party plan (such as allowing parents to easily reconnect with kids, working out payment arrangements before or after the party – not in the middle, or serving age appropriate drinks) made this a pretty bad experience. I would not recommend it.

Went with a 4, 6, and 13 year old. 6 year old had fun, other 2 got bored. Not worth the money. Overcrowded. And the thing I have the biggest problem with is the Kingdom Quest ride. Teaching children to shoot people is NOT what I would expect to see at a family friendly lego place. You use laser guns to shoot the spiders and "bad" characters on the ride. Yes, lets teach our children that its awesome and amazing to pick up a gun and its SO cool to shoot people! Highly disappointed in this. Won't be going back.

My son is 5 and a Lego fanatic, so we went the first day and also bought a season pass. We've been back about three times. If I could give a 3.5 that would be my score...

First, the intake process to get into the place is very frustrating. I am not sure why it takes so long to process people when you have to buy timed tickets online. If you buying regular tickets or if you are a annual pass holder, the wait times are just way too long to get processed and get into the venue. They really need to rethink the process to get into the venue. It would also really help to have more people working the registers and then some clear directives about what the process should be as annual pass people are in separate line but it isn't clear if they are to wait until everyone else is also processed or if they have priority and staff do not give directives clearly about who should come up next to the registers.

It is then another line once you get through that to get to the "factory tour," which is a video presentation, before you actually get into the venue. Thankfully, they have now added a short cut to bypass that for those who have already been, as on busy days it can easily be 20-30 minutes from start of waiting in line outside through the line to the "tour" to actually getting into the venue.

Once inside the venue, there is not a ton of stuff to, but enough to keep a 5-7 year old occupied for several hours. The large police/fire/construction playscape is by far my son's favorite feature. It is a large climbing playscape perfect for 5-8 year olds. You must wear socks to play on it so do not forget to bring socks, especially in summer when kids might be wearing sandals.

There are two rides. One is a shooting sort of thing which is good and very much like those in a larger amusement park. The other is a kind of pedaling round about ride probably suitable for younger kinds. My problem with that ride is that the belts on it are really unclear so the person who runs the ride has to go around and redo everyone's belts so that it takes forever to load folks into the ride (not the fault of operator but just design of the ride) and the ride doesn't take many people, so that they can't process many people in that ride. As a result the line for that line takes forever.

There are two major building areas for legos as well. I'm kinda bummed that they are so heavily gendered, one is "friends" so clearly pitched to girls, the other is a kind of vehicle assembly themed area for the boys. The boys area is always jammed packed and hard to get into. I also wish there was a bit more variety of building as both areas seem to narrowly focused, both in terms of being heavily gendered and very theme specific.

There is a small area for tots that has duplos and also some larger format soft legos that younger kids could use. Overall, however, unless you had a younger sibling, this would not be a venue I would take a tot to as it is more geared to 5-7 year olds.

The 3-D movie theater is another feature and is very enjoyable and shows really great films. There is a variety of short lego films they show but I somehow seem to see the same on every time I go.

Every 30 minutes there is also a "build" that you can do -- a kind of guided build of a small piece led by staff member. Be sure to tell your kid that you cannot take that lego build home or they will be very sad at the end after building the piece.

Much of the site is dedicated to the snack/seating area. Once you go in, you can't leave and come back in. The offerings at the snack bar are fairly limited and while there are a few healthier options, the food offerings are really a very low point of this venue. I really encourage Lego to put more effort and thought into the food, especially if you aren't letting people leave the venue to eat elsewhere. Better tasting more nutritious food for kids is really on the upswing so Lego let's get on board with that.

Overall, this is a good value if you go in knowing what it is. If you bring socks. If you've eaten beforehand. if you have a kid in that range of 5-7 (or outside 8-10) and you expect a good 3-4 hours of making the most of the offerings.

I went today ( Saturday ) and had a reservation for 10 am. I was with my mother-in-law and my three boys 14, 11, and 9. We went right into a ride where you have laser "guns" and are shooting bad guys to save a baby dragon (they can fit up to 5 in a ride let them know if you all want to have a gun. Our car only had 4 guns). It was fun but very short. We exited and went to the next room where you could see Lego villages that have already been built. That led you to the final big room. This room held another ride where two people would go at a time. One adult and one child, my two youngest were able to go on together. It was a ride that spun around slowly but if they peddled they would go up and down. Very tame. They had several areas for building Legos. A 4 station Earthquake simulator. You build your Legos on a square in front to you and control when you want the Earthquake to go and how strong it should be. It was unimpressive. Even if my kids built stuff to see it fall, it did not fall. My son said it moves in a circle not really up and down. They had a build and race section where you would build Lego cars and race them. It was ok when we first got there but as it got busier it was impossible to get Legos or a space to race. It was very cramped. They had a 4 D move that was fun. They are 13-15 minutes long and one runs right after the other. You go in one door, exit the other and don't have time to get back to the first door to see the next movie ( there are 3 different ones) You wear 3D glasses. There is wind and at one point they shot air and lots of bubbles. So watch what seats you are sitting in. If you choose a seat that is wet or the floor is wet in front of you, you will be directly in the line of fire. My seat was dry and I got very little. It is a mist nothing major but I was surprised there was no warning about this before you got into the movie. There is a play area we did not go into, a food area that looked VERY expensive ($12 kid meals) and then you exit out to the store. VERY Expensive Lego sets. I am not sure if prices are comparable at Toys R Us or Amazon. This is not a cheap experience. As I said we didn't do everything and we were able to get out in 1 1/2 hours. That was with pulling my oldest out even though he did not feel as if he conquered the race car design. However it was VERY crowded by 11 and it was frustrating to try to participate in any Lego building. The lines were getting longer for the rides. I would have been very disappointed if I had come at 11 and paid that much money to see that many people. So go Early or maybe much later but avoid the late morning/early afternoon. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very clean. It was worth the money but with so many kids I couldn't do it often!

Our trip to legoland was something my kids were really looking forward to and in the end we will never go back.
First off, why have people register for a certain time if it means nothing? We registered for our time slot and when we arrived...15 minutes early, we ended up waiting in a line to even check in for over 40 minutes. So by the time we were able to enter it was 30 minutes after the time slot we bought tickets for and the kids were already agitated.
Then we go into the creation tour room. Horrible! The video controls the kids were supposed to be able to use to create things on the screens didn't work and you could not hear the voice over at all. We told the people working and they didn't fix the problems and shooed us into the next room.
This is where things were even worse! The place was so overly packed that you couldn't push a stroller through the crowds! This brings me back to my original issue...why have time slots to register for if once your in there isn't an end time to your ticket? There should be a max capacity...many time slots were sold out but many we not...so if those time slots were sold out as well I could only imagine how crowded it would have been.
Finally the rides sucked! Even my 3 year old thought it was lame! There was no supervision by employees, as kids were slamming Lego cars across the tracks and employees didn't care. Hard to enjoy yourself when some kids are throwing toys and your trying to help a 2 year old build something. I shouldn't have to police other kids that's the employees job to monitor bad behavior of the parents won't.
In the end we left after 2 hours of horrible experience and lots of wasted money!

The 4D movie was the highlight. This place really is a rip off. Save your money & buy a $100 Lego set and build it at home while watching the Lego movie. Disappointed. Royally.
