Hugely impressive and stunning sight (which I saw as part of the 3-day Cordillera Traveller Tour), but be careful as the altitude here can really get you. It is also extremely windy and you need to be fully wrapped up.

On a trip with Intrepid Travel, this was definitely one of the highlights. We were able to get up close and personal with large flocks of Flamingos. Their squeaking squawking shrill calls, and slender bodies, varied shades of light to brilliant pink, all everything you would ever want in seeing them live for the first time. The colour of the... Laguna Colorada is one of half a dozen high altitude lagoons you will encounter on the San Pedro to Uyuni 3 day 2 night salt flat tour. What makes it memorable is its deep red colour, created by red sediments and the pigmentation of a particular subtype of algae (the same that provide flamingoes with their pink colour). Surrounding the... More

Fabulous. When we visited thete had been little rainfall. This meant that the lake levels were low so it was not as spectacular as it could have been. This should not put you off as it was still an incredible experience.

I really enjoyed the scenic view of the Laguna Colorado. The colors, the flamingos and the volcanos in the background were amazing. I really had a great time taking photos of such a fantastic scene. Altitude and energy kept me from going closer to the flamingos but I wish I had been able to get closer. The flying flamingos made... More

We spent 5 hours or so, over two trips taking photos of the birds, the light effects, sunset and sunrise. A truly beautiful place. The first place I saw in Bolivia that made me really glad I had come to this remote corner of the Earth where nobody seems to know how to make nice bread or to construct a... More

The lagoon was truly a deep red colour when we visited due to the algae that live there. Contrasted with the clear blue sky, and with the mountains behind and thousands of flamingoes reflected perfectly in the still water this is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited.

Sooooo beautiful!!!!!!!!! I dont know the name of the agency we went with, our guide wasnt very "guidy" he gave enough information so we understood what we were looking at. But it doesn't matter because the views are just breathtaking!!!!

absolutely not to be missed, the sort of place you see on wild life documentaries. But be careful of the season. We went in October and saw literally thousands of flamingoes. Truly amazing

One of the highlights of the three days in South Lipez and Salar !! A must visit. In the mean time we visited, it seemed more like a mirror than any other color, it was still awesome!
