I walked the beach on a sunday morning and then in the evening, I really do not know what people like about it. The beach is filthy, rubbish is ever present, wild dogs and their dropping. In the evening the road on top of the beach get filled with what in Europe we call gipsy, selling basically junk. Some vendors cooks sausages on the back of a bike with a tail of dogs.
I think the best time is in the morning when no one is around, and can enjoy just the rubbish of the previous nite, and the dogs sleeps. Do not come here for this.

Aldo the sun did not arrive before mid day it was nice to walk for miles. Many sport tools along the boulevard. Many places to drink a coffee or a beer or ice cream. Many good places to have a free seat to see beachlife.

Beware of unleashed dogs, especially at night. There are a lot of them on Viña Del Mar and Valparaiso. I recommend for walking, jogging or biking an ultrasonic dog repeller.

It was a chilly day so was not able to appreciate the beach but looks like it would be a fun place to be in the summer

Why come to Vina? For the beach! Lovely boardwalk for strolling for a long distance along the beach. You'll pass a lot of landmarks (Casino) and might get accosted by some gypsies begging for a cigarette or more, then you'll reach the old pier and find some vendors selling souvenirs. When you get tired go a few blocks inland and look for a bus heading back in the direction you came!

A good beach to people watch. There were a lot of people out there, and they just kept on coming.
You can take a nice long walk down the beach and there are several restaurants, etc. to get snacks and other stuff.
You can take some pretty cool pictures at various spots walking down the beach because of the vastly different backdrops and the way the buildings are designed.

The best we could do was stand there and try to picture the beaches on the other side of the pacific in Australia. It was nice, but there are better beaches out there.

I can't say it is a must go place but it is relaxing for a walk and watch the wave breaking the rocks...be aware cuz it's windy there so the wave is kinda big that can make you all wet.

This is the place to go for a long run or workout with the local folks on the outdoor exercise equipment that is readily available. It is a lovely place to take a long walk and people watching. After our three week S. AMerican cruise, this stop was just a pleasant low-key opportunity to enjoy the warm sun before returning to Michigan and sub-zero weather.
