Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

Tourist Attraction

When in Dubai it's a must see! Tickets are cheaper if you go before 3pm. Buy your tickets online as your preferred tour time may be sold out if you just go there on the day.

If you have seen any high rise, then you won't feel awed by Khalifa. For one thing the sights around are very boring. Sunset was underwhelming. It can get crowded. They manage it professionally though for which I give them an extra star. We booked our time slot for 4PM and when we showed up at 3.30PM the guys advised... More

Of course it's touristy and slightly cheesy, but it's the tallest building in the world-you have to go! we went and it was beautiful.

We had a great experience. Once you get in it's very organized. You could stay up there as long as you want. The memorabilia they sell is a bit pricey.

Okay, everyone wants to go on top of the tallest building in the world. Yes, you take the elevator and go up, but it’s not the top. Even if it’s called so. The price to go to the 125th floor is already higher than similar observation decks (e.g. the Tokyo Skytree or the Sky100). The comparable observation decks might be... More

Don't forget to view the exterior from all angles and other places in stead of taking pictures only from the Dubai Mall terraces and lakeside.

A must in Dubai. They charge a minimum spend per person but it varies whether you sit in the window or away from the window......but you have to sit in the window really. Incredible views. Wine and drinks expensive but delicious canape style snacks.

I suggest pre-booking if you have a certain time of day and are happy to go to level 124. I didn't pre-book and turned up to find a long queue for tickets and found out that the only tickets available for that day and time were the premium tickets to 148th floor so it cost a lot more. With the... More

I visited Dubai three times with family and this place is special because of the enormity of the size of the building. If you want to take a good picture with the backdrop of the building go in the morning because you will get sun light in your favour. If you want to visit the top of Burj Khalifa my... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
