Top ways to experience The Dubai Fountain
The area
Neighbourhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

- abhishek s23 contributionsEnjoyableBest and most amazing experience on the waterfront promenade. It is situated at the foot of the Burj Khalifa. Music and lights as well as water fountains. You can also walk along this boardwalk or have lunch in one of the numerous restaurants that are located on it.Visited December 2022Written 11 December 2022
- PortoLeith66 contributionsBurj Khalifa + dinner and Dubai FountainWe booked the Burj Khalifa + dinner @ The Burj Club via Get Your Guide and the Burj Club restaurant overlooks the fountains. The show was fantastic with great music accompanying the display and our view from the Burj Club was fantastic. .Visited December 2022Written 16 December 2022
- Gautam PendharkarMumbai, India98 contributionsFantastic FountainThis fountain show was the icing on the cake after we visited The Burj Khalifa. It starts in the evening after 6 pm and has a musical fountain show after half an hour gap where they play different music. The show is spectacular to watch, make sure you have best place to watch it.Visited December 2022Written 19 December 2022
- Haytham Abu FirasQatar14,379 contributionsDon’t missA musical fountain or dancing fountain is a highlight not to be missed when visiting Dubai. You can reach there from The Dubai Mall and view the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa. Amazing show which will last few minutes but frequently repeated every certain time.Visited December 2022Travelled with friendsWritten 20 December 2022
- Zelna PKloof, South Africa109 contributionsExpected moreWhole experience was beautiful. But I think I expected more. It does not compare to other fountain shows I have seen. It is around 3 minutes and no colours. Beautiful to see but if you not in the area then really not worth making the effort. You can see the show perfectly from the side. No need to buy tickets Just get there a little earlier. Show is from 6 pm every half and hour.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 20 December 2022
- Martin KStuttgart, Germany19 contributionsNice water choreographyIn my opinion a must-see when you don't know it until now. I was there at evening times and we had a pretty cool waterfountain choreography to a Michael Jackson song. You should be there some minutes earlier to get a good place. But in general even with a not so good place you will probably see enough. Just do it! Watch the fountains!Visited December 2022Travelled soloWritten 22 December 2022
- Ela1141 contributionsSimply amazing!Apparently there is a reason why this fountain is so famous! It is a great architectural modern achievement. The views are beautiful and relaxing. The view towards the Burj khalifa is amazing. Great for taking a photo but mostly we enjoyed the music show of the fountain. We managed to see them 3 times during our stay in Dubai ( at different times of the day) and were really amazed!!! You shouldn't leave Dubai without paying a visit!!!Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 25 December 2022
- JAYUnited Arab Emirates461 contributionsVery niceThe fountain is definitely a must see when in Dubai and if you goto the Dubai mall. It’s huge, accompanied by music and lightening so very nice to see and is every 30min after 6 I think on the weekends. Just weather was very hot and humid but a must see.Visited August 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 December 2022
- Robert P NLos Angeles, California2,414 contributionsIts like Vegas but bigger and betterThis is an outside free water show goes off every half hour to a variety of music. There are a few resources located near the fountains where you can see the show. And there is a lot of viewing areas. From the railings. Or platforms. The first time you may be anxious and feel like you missed out. However since it goes off every 30min. Eventually the thrill will be gone. And You will enjoy it much more. Great for kids. Or romantic date. Have funVisited December 2022Written 26 December 2022
- ashvtosh102 contributionsAmazingNow you dont have to go to bellagio in las vegas to see such amazing fountains. those same guys have created this. it takes place at 6 pm and every half hour till 11. in between there is a lighting show on the burj khalifa. take a seat at a restaurant overlooking the waterfall and enjoy both the meal and the scene.Visited December 2022Written 27 December 2022

Nice fountain show to see. It lasts 4 minutes.
There were ALOT of people lining the sides of the walkways and over the bridge. Our taxi was delayed so we arrived there later than planned and had to try to squeeze in to find a spot where we could view the display.
It is similar to the fountains at the Bellagio in Vegas. Nice to see but to be honest not a must do. I guess as a free thing in Dubai it is worth it to brave the crowds.
If this is something you are really interested in seeing, then probably best to find a table for dinner at one of the various restaurants that surround the fountain area. This way you could be comfortable and enjoying the viewing. We already had dinner plans so that wasn't an option for us.

Only a 1 or 2 shows during the day, after 6pm every 30 minutes, anyplace you stand you can't miss the high spurts of water during the shows, directly outside Dubai Mall (follow the signs).

Very nice show, we came around 7:30pm after seeing the top of Burj Khalifa, it is extremely crowded. The show is every half an hour and they play different songs each time, mostly American music like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston but there were one it two Arabic ones as well. There are many restaurants so if you get a chance really recommend getting a seat outside and you can enjoy a few shows. Its about 2 and half minutes long.

So the show is spectacular but the crowds are a nuisance. Seems too many people have decided to “come to Dubai”. 🙄anyway, love the fact the shows are varied and not the same old show each half hour.

After visiting some key attractions of Dubai, we decided to stay near this attraction. Took a lot of pictures of the Burj Khalifa, posed at the Angel’s Wings and the hand Sculpture, and simply enjoyed the ambience while waiting for the Fountain show to start.
We enjoyed the brief presentation and headed back to Abu Dhabi.

These fountains are very enjoyable and it is worth getting a reservation in the evening at a restaurant for a view of the fountains and Burj Khalifa. We lucked out at Five Guys and had excellent seats to observe the fountains go off twice.
The fountains have a show at 1:00 and 1:30 in the middle of the day but they run every half an hour starting at 6:00 pm and the evening is better with the lights but the promenade gets very crowded. While we were in Dubai we heard an Arabic song, Time to say Goodbye and Thriller by Michael Jackson. The Burj Khalifa also has a light show every half an hour starting at 6:15 so it might be worth checking that out too.
The fountains are in the artificial lake in the middle of Downtown Dubai. You can follow the signs from Dubai Mall or enter from any direction through the buildings and hotels. You can get here early to camp out but it is a very busy area at night.

A lot of hoopla for not much of a show. There was 1000+ people and the show was very short, 3 minutes. The Bellagio in Vegas had a similar show, but it was a lot longer and the show was much more impressive.

The lights and water show at the Dubai fountain next to Burj Khalifa shouldn't be missed.
We had a wonderful time listening to the changing music styles and the interactive fountains.

Добрый день. Возможен ли осмотр достопримечательностей города хотя бы вечернее время в августе? Читала, что жара в это время года ужасная и не спадает даже вечером.Или лучше перенести время визита на другой месяц? Спасибо.

It's free. There is no requirement for a ticket and you can view the fountains from a number of different areas. It can also be viewed from viewing areas within Dubai mall but I recommend getting outside and viewing it from one of the outside areas

Are the fountains on between 24th march and 31th march 2020?
In normal circumstances the answer would be yes, But with the present climate around the world, not just Dubai, it changes on a daily/Hourly basis.
