The area
Neighbourhood: Jumeirah
Years ago, before the skyscrapers, before the 12-lane highway, there was only Jumeirah. In fact, when the UAE was formed, its rulers signed the agreement in Union House, at the very start of Jumeirah Beach Road. Often called “The Beverly Hills” of Dubai, a drive down Beach Road reveals one enormous, lavish villa after another. Originally residential-only neighbourhoods, they are now also home to an array of cafes, smart boutiques, and art galleries. Home to one of Dubai’s few public beaches, this recently renovated area includes a new boardwalk, running and walking track, with changing facilities and cafes along the way. Another landmark, Jumeirah Mosque, is the only mosque in Dubai that can be entered by non-Muslims. As part of the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, the mosque hosts regular tours and talks about Islam, as part of an “Open Doors, Open Minds” program. A wonderful way to understand more about the UAE and Islam.

I LOVED IT!! I'm a Dubai resident and this museum is absolutely necessary to perpetuate the culture and history of this beautiful country. The moment I stepped in I could see how personal and caring the staff was, always with a smile and willing to help. They took the time to talk to you while always being nice. I really want to highlight how caring every single person was at the museum that made me feel like "at home". I want to highlight the sympathy of Lee, since she was impeccable and caring all the time. It was lovely to meet her and to engage in a conversation with her.
The decoration and the meaning behind the design is out of this world. The facilities are awesome, since the 3D videos to the way they present information.
Even the restaurant of the museum was incredible.
Besides, the price is super affordable!
I'm so happy that I took the time to visit the museum and will DEFINITELY recommend it to my friends and take my family there once they come to visit me.

Free parking, lots of parking spaces. Large building, lovely architecture. No queues. Not busy. Great way to learn some history about UAE. I don't recommend eating at the cafe - Indian waitress was not at all friendly. I asked for americano with milk on the side. She brought the milk in a bowel (not mini jug), coffee in a small cup which was warm (not hot). Service was poor which is a shame as it spoiled the whole experience.

It was amazing the staff Marwa was fantastic taking her time patiently to explain every details. At some point I felt like I just arrived Dubai.
Are you really in Dubai if you don’t visit the museum ? Nah I don’t think

My friends won’t stop asking her questions and she had answers for everyone she’s good at what she does. It’s a 100/10 for me good job

The museum is dedicated to the union of the emirates and the formation of the current state. The exhibits are not very spectacular, but the building has an unusual, very beautiful architecture. It represents a rolled sheet of paper, representing the document signed for the union (according to the guide). As part of the museum, you can also visit (with a guide) the room where the union was signed, as well as the building where Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum received his important visitors. Very good guidance!
Also, there is an interesting (temporary?) exhibition of Arabic calligraphy.
There is also a cafe, but it doesn't serve alcohol.
You need about an hour to visit all.

Don't expect a grand exhibition here, but visit the museum for its beautiful architecture, both outside and inside. Don’t expect crowds of visitors here either. Granted, it looks a bit dead, but take it for what it is: a beautiful building. In addition to the museum, take a look inside the (not accessible ) pavilion where the treaty establishing the United Arab Emirates was once signed

Etihad Muaeum is off the beaten track. It's very large and almost always empty. There were a total of 6 other visitors during my visit. The museum traces the development of the UAE since independence in the early 1970s, and provides insights into how farsighted and leaders of Dubai and Abu Dhabi envisaged the future of the UAE. It's quite educational, and there are a number of interactive displays explaining the development of the UAE..

We didn't quite know what to think after having visited this museum.
From an architectural perspective, this museum is stunning.
The outside shell is slick, nicely designed with smooth lines and nice curves.
From the inside, the idea to have the museum underground is very interesting. The exhibit is very well spaced out and it is presented in a beautiful setting, well decorated.
What made a counter-weight to this is the content of the exhibit itself.
Although quite informative for someone who didn't know much about the creation of the UAE, the various sections were quite repetitive.
It is always the same narrative line that is explained: the Sheiks were great, they were visionaries and thanks to them, we have the UAE today.
It felt overly-patriotic and this repetitiveness got to us at about the halfway point, to the extend we stopped reading the explanations and focuses more on the items on display.
For the building alone, we would recommend a visit.
The parts of UAE history you'll get inside are nice... but be warned that you'll get saturated at some point.
Expect to spend about 1.5 hours there.

Museum not to be missed if you really want to know the history of the country!
Excellent organization with really short access times.
The in-house bar also offers a vast amount of products at affordable prices.

No any doubt for giving 5/5 for Etihad museum
The museum was modern and full of necessary information and equipments to help you understand the history of UAE.
My most favourite thing fo Etihad museum is timing. They close late (8PM) which makes me feel comfortable to visit in the evening (to be honest weather during afternoon is too hot to go out)
If you are historical traveller or museum lover please dont miss this place!!!
Ps.it's quite difficult to find taxi back from there. Taxi application will be helpful for your transportation on the way back home

Very lavish building and museum with very fancy interactive exhibits and audio/video technology.
We found it a bit underwhelming and a bit repetitive however, as it focuses on the formation of UAE and all the exhibits seem to go over the same material, of how the Emirati tribes came together.
We found the Dubai Creek Museum at the Al Shindagha museum more interesting for providing insight into Dubai over the centuries and how ordinary people lived in those times, and the stages of Dubai's development

Is there an entrance fee?
Can it be reached from Al Fahidi metro?
Written 26 December 2019
Hi, Caroln485, I seem to remember paying 25 AED each.
It isn't walking distance from a metro station, unless you're a very keen walker, but if you get off the metro at World Trade Centre it's not a long taxi ride.
Hope that helps!
