To see Isfahan from the top is good to go to sofe mountain. this mountain is located in the city so you don't need to make a big decision to go there. just 1 to 2 hours for a normal hike and 4 hours for going and come back to the top. you can see the whole Isfahan from the top and the best time is 2 hours before sunset so you can see the sunset from the top of the mountain and see city lights after it.

Soffeh mountain is certainly one of the best things to do while in Isfahan. The hike to the peak takes around 1.5-2 hours and is rather challenging close to the top. No equipment is needed however. There are plenty of facilities, beautiful views of the city and a lively atmosphere. Highly recommended!

It is not difficult to reach the Sofeh park area on foot from the city. Everybody seems to go there by car, taxi or bus. It is some 8 km from the bazar in Isfahan city (elevation just under 1600m).

Once you have reached the foot of the mountain at the end of Hakim Nezami street and Soffe boulevard and crossed the freeway, you can hike straight up to the main trail near Zagros restaurant. Alternatively you can follow the freeway until the park entrance. The well maintained trail ends near the Second Cable Car station. For some reason locals also call it the first telecabin station. From there a smaller trail continues up the mountain. At first there are some confusing signs in English and Farsi. Follow the "return" direction and not the "climbing" direction. After some time the signs stop. Just continue until you reach the summit. Perhaps you have to scramble over some rocks (limestone) here and there, but basically it is an easy hike to the top unless there is snow.

It took me seven hours up and down from the city center, but I took it easy and had several breaks (three times 15 minutes). There was not a lot of snow. The nicest break was at the top of course, where you have a wonderful view over the plains with Isfahan below. On the way down I went through the park entrance. From there back to the city turn left and walk along the freeway to Hakim Nezami street.

Perhaps the mountain looks like a stone bench or sofa seen from the plains, but it has a real peak. It is no Soffa at all.

we visited this place around evening 5:30 and we had to wait half an hour for a mini van which took us on the top. there was only this van not any other vehicle could go up. and when we went up the only good restaurant was closed and a creepy one was open. we stayed a little bit. but to see the view of the city you should walk down. then when we wanted to go down with the van, people started to push us even we were standing in a line.and finally they didn't let us to sit! that was a very bad experience we had to walk down for about 15 minutes with two old people in the dark and all the local young people were in the car. the city view is not even sth special. avoid wasting your time here
