We had the pleasure of doing a tour of the Walled City in Lahore with Maqbool Ahmed Maqbool and we can confidently say that it was a memorable & fantastic tour. Maqbool Ahmed is well versed with the knowledge and history of Lahore and its cultural heritage.

It was my first time visiting Lahore with my family, as we wanted to explore our cultural heritage and our home country but didn't know how and where to start. Maqbool Ahmed provided us a safe, secure, excellent, wonderful, fantastic, amazing, reliable and honest tour. We definitely recommend him as we really enjoyed our experience.

He arranged our accommodation, transportation and guided tour of Lahore. He is an extremely knowledgeable, honest, educated, friendly & flexible tour guide.

We highly recommend him!!!!

I strongly recommend a walled city tour by the agency tour guides. The guides are quite well-informed and enthusiastic. I enjoyed walking through the narrow streets, listening to the stories of the guide and imagining life in those times. The guides also point out to the famous eateries in the area.

This is a Saturday night only tour held weekly starts around 7.30pm on Food street on Fort Road gate to the walled compound. Entrance fee currently Pk 1000 each. The Walled City is not a city or bazaar it is a compound which contains the government buildings of the Mughal emperors. Specifically the fort itself, Sheesh Mahal and courtyard featuring the 1566 Alamgir gate, entrance to the 1679 Badshahi mosque and Sikh empire building inside a large compound. The tour includes a walk around the compound with music performance, some costumed actors, a rikshaw ride into the fort, with the main attraction inside sheesh mahal which includes music and traditional dancing, with hot tea and snacks served. Guides are all excellent. Since it is the night tour dont miss the guides showing you the inside of the sheesh mahal and how the ceiling twinkles like stars at night, quite a unique experience.

Because of its Mughal heritage there are reminders here of British India every time you turn your head. The streets are not as narrow as in Kathmandu, the spice bazaar is not quite as large as Istanbul's souks, the coloration of the stone buildings is not nearly as memorable as Jaipur ... But, this old city seems far more authentic as an exemplar of everyday views in former Mughal times.
Make a point to visit the old walled city!

We took the history by night tour of the walled city in Lahore and the experience was amazing. It's definitely a must for all those visiting Lahore. It is only on Saturdays and you can easily book the tickets on call and then purchase them on spot. They have really good guides who will brief you through the old city's history. The tour also includes classical live music and dance performances.
The ticket is only for Rs. 1000/-
