The tomb of Jahangir is a away from the hustle and bustle of Lahore. Well worth the drive. Built for Mughal Emperor Jahangir, the site is decorated in frescoes, marble and other decorative art. If you’re into architecture, this is definitely one of best places to visit in Lahore!
You enter the site via a massive gate called Akbari Sarai. The tomb is surrounded by sprawling, Persian-inspired gardens. The structure has four large minarets. Inside is the tomb itself and everything is of marble. The place was deserted when we visited. Only a couple of visitors and a photoshoot taking place in one corner. Jahangir was one of
Not too far away is the tomb of Noor Jahan, try and get the to see the difference

Recently we planned a specific trip to Jahangir’s Tomb, Shahdara, Lahore. Last time we saw it about three decades back. Undoubtedly it’s the place having a substantial significance in the history covering Mughal Emperor’s era.
Previously it was quite a solitary area but now with the passage of time the surroundings are getting congested and it is not so convenient to reach there comfortably. Anyways, once inside you really feel the grandeur and the majestic impression. Anybody having love for history and architecture would be spellbound to have a view of the whole area comprising the Akbari Sarai, Tomb of Asif Khan and the adjacent Tomb of Nur Jahan.
The area as a whole is well maintained for the visitors. Parking area, canteens for drinks and light snacks are available. The attraction needs to be seen from the historical point of view. Well recommended.

Garnished with immense spreads of landscapes around the great Mughal period masterpiece, Jehangir's tomb is again yet another perfection of the fine artisans of the period! Notice the intricacies in the interiors and exteriors and feel the industriousness of the great masters of the field! I went as a child and as an adult.

The 4th Mughal king Noor-ud-din Mohammad Jahangir (31 August 1569-----28th October 1627) is the only one Mughal king who is buried in Lahore (Pakistan). The Simon rising & stars scene has shown in the main entrance from Akbari Inn to Jahangir's tomb. During some time, Parkh Festival was celebrated in the garden every summer till 1958. The tomb was completely immersed in water twice. The king who is buried here makes us to feel that world is mortal & all the splendor grandiosity & greatness of none except Almighty Allah. The tomb of Jahangir is the 2nd beautiful building in the subcontinent after Taj Mahal Agra (India).

It is believed that this tomb was designed by Jahangir,s beloved wife Nur Jehan. however, it was built by his son, shah Jehan, who had a great love for architecture. The building of the tomb with four tall minarets looks like a big jewel set in the heart of a verdant garden. The profusion of marble ornamentation, magnificent exterior, tastefully decorated interior and expensive perspective of the landscape; all indicate the excellence of the builder,s taste and craftsmanship.

Although obviously in need of some TLC we really enjoyed our Sunday outing to Jehangirs Tomb. There were enough visitors to make it feel alive but so few that we weren't crowded anywhere on the site. The gardens are vast and they are well laid out and peaceful. the builtings on the outer edges crumbling but the tomb itself and some of the more central buildings are better looked after. The tomb itself is beautiful and whispers of the Taj Mahal which was built after. Lovely inlay and architectural elements.
We stopped for a cool drink at a 'cafe' near the inner gate, nice breezy spot under a tree.

Mausoleum built for the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The mausoleum dates from 1637, and is located in Shahdara Bagh in Lahore, Punjab. This is a nice place to spend sometime and learn history of Mughal architecture. Park is neat and clean and this is one of UNISCO heritage site. Staff is nice and cooperative. I wasn't aware that Tomb of Asif Khan is also across the mosque and a staff member told me about that.
Ticket for foreigners is expensive and it ships be regular price since we are promoting tourism in Pakistan.

The tomb of Mughal king Jahangir is a very beautiful historical place, the only one Mughal King Jehangir is buried in Lahore Pakistan, 1St one Babar is buried in Kabul Afghanistan, The last mughal king Bahadur Shah Zafar in Burma ( Rangoon), the rest mostly are in India. According to the will of Jahangir he was buried in his wife Noor Jahan's beautiful and favourite Dilkusha Bagh ( Open hearted garden). He was dead in 1627 A.D at Rajori Kashmir and his dead body was brought from there to here he ruled from 1605 to 1627 in subcontinent. His tomb was completed in 10 years with thr amount of1 million rupees of that time. There is a very beautiful floral pietradeura inlay work on his grave. It is a worthseeing tomb adjacent to Asif Jah's tomb (Father in law of Shah Jahan), his daughter is buried in Taj Mahal India at Agra. Once Alexander the great said "Now the tomb is suffice to him for whom the whole world was insufficient".
It is nice place for visit and picnic.

The mausoleum of Jahangir, and especially its cenotaph are simply stunning. Like the Taj Mahal, it is made out of white marble inlaid with pietra dura of semi precious stones (hold a torch against it and it will light up like fireworks !). The whole complex is a serene and significant memorial to Mughal power and sophistication - it is a pitty the Sikhs robbed the Pavillion of all marble and ornaments. Still, a great tourist attraction.

What's the best time and day to visit the Tomb of Jahangir?
Also is Noor Jahan Tomb in the same vicinity?
Written 22 June 2019
Walaikmussalam the best time to visit the tomb of Jahangir & Noor Jahan is morning or second time after 5:15 pm in summer season. The day is up to you but rather than Sunday is good sometimes some lazy bluffers play cricket there .
