This is a historic gun. It is not a decoration piece. It is an actual weapon used in the wars of olden days. Ahmad Shah Abdali used it the battles against Indian rajas. It was drowned in the river and afterwards pulled out of the river. It was placed on a platform on Mall Road (Shahra e Quaid e Azam) between Lahore Museum and Punjab University Old Campus.

Zamzama is a gun. Well, it is rather more than that ... for it is an enormous bronze cannon. It looks as though it could easily shuttle a 20-kilo, 30-cm warhead dozens of kilometers. It was memorialized by Rudyard Kipling in the novel 'Kim.' Right now it is solidly placed in a center median on a busy road outside the Lahore Museum. It's not really possible to safely get up close to the canon unless of course you enjoy darting in and out of relentless traffic. However, for a picture postcard view simply ask your driver to pull over by the side of the road and take your snap in one of the few moments when the traffic is not obscuring your view.
Zamzama is really just a drive-by. Yet, since it sufficiently centrally located in Lahore it's almost no extra effort to get a view of this war machine.

In a peaceful country like Pakistan, it was pretty normal for me to get amazed at the sight of this 23 metre long cannon that was no longer in use. The cannon was guarded on all sides by a high steel fencing.

Part of the Lahore Museum exhibit right outside its gates, yet in the middle of the busy Shahrah of Mall Road, the old gun is as shining and well kept as it could be! I have visited it several times while consulting the Museum Library for my Master Degree Thesis in Lahore. Its ageless in its looks!

Zamzama Gun is perhaps the most famous gun in the history of the Punjab immortalised by Rudyard Kipling in his novel 'Kim".Originally it was placed outside original Jadoo Ghar ,as Tollington Market housing the museum used to be called .Kipling in 1907 won Nobel Prize for literature .
Now it is in the centre of the road opposite the Lahore Museum .

Zamzama Gun AKA Kim's Gun is erected permanently on an island in the middle of Mall Road, between Lahore Museum and Punjab University Old Campus. This gun is made famous in the west by Rudyard Kipling's novel "Kim".

A large bore cannon cast in mid 18th century in Lahore and on dis play on the Mall, THE TOAP made of brass and copper ,is a large bore (9 1/2 inch) cannon of AHMED SHAH Durrani, king of Afghanistan, who used it against MARHATTAS in famous battle of PANIPAT.

Great Colonial era Gun paced om Mall Road infront of Lahore Museum, Government College and Anarkali. If ur visting museum you cant miss it.

This gun was constructed from kitchen utensils donated by people of Lahore under the order of the Emperor, DuriDurran. Shah Wali Khan Wazir made the gun and named it Zamzama - the Taker of Strongholds. It is also called Bhangianwala Toap, because it was used by the Sikh chief Sardar Hari Singh Bhangi.

This gun is mentioned in Rudyard Kiplings novels. It was always called Kims Gun and dont know who changed its name. Its a historical gun made during the period of Ranjit Singh. Its plalced on the main Mall Road, opposite the Lahore Museum. Its worth a visit...only problem that its surrounded by pegions and surrounding area is full of their droppings
