Pass Through into Old Lahore

I don’t think this really is a destination. But you will pass through this gate to access the old city and other destinations such as Naqsh Art Gallery and Fakir Khan Museum.

The Gate of the Rajputs!
Mar 2016 • Family
This gate is named after the Rajput tribe of Bhattis who came to live here after Malik Ayaz became the governor of Lahore. It is located on the southern side of the Walled City. This part of the Walled City was nicknamed the Chelsea of Lahore, because of it's polished gentry. The main artery running through this area is the Bazaar e Hakkima or the mall of the healers. It is famous for Unchi Masjid, Bazaar e Hakkima and it's close vicinity to the Shrine of Data Gunj Bakhsh. The shrines of Pir Jhanday Shah and Billian wali Sarkar also lies behind this gate. The Faqir Khana Museum is also situated here in the historical Faqir Haveli. The national poet of Pakistan Dr. Muhammad Allama Iqbal stayed here during the time he was studying in the Government College. The beautiful Wajid Ali Shah Haveli is also in this area. This was also the home of a famous wrestler Kala Maro Pahalwan. The Indian singer Mohammad Rafi was born and bred here. Every year during Muharram the Zul-Jinnah procession passes through this gate to reach Karbala Camay Shah. This area is an epicure's paradise. You can find the best breakfast stalls here which sell halwa puri, siri paye (cows brain and hoofs) and lassi (churned yogurt drink) here. Besides this Qatlambas (fried pancakes) are specialities of Bhatti.
