Wonderful, old, well preserved fort. Many rooms to explore with views of the Mediterranean Sea. Not handicap accessible. Many stairs. Take a snack. Sit on the sea wall and enjoy the view of the city.

A beautiful old castle still in excellent shape. It gives great views over the Mediterranean Sea and onto the city. If you are in Alexandria and aren't sure what places to see and which to skip, don't skip this one.

Citadel of Qaitbay. An icon of the city and overlooking the fierce Mediteranean Sea, the fortress was built in 1477 AD and reconstucted twice. Apart from being the city's coastal defense system, it also served as a prison for princes. It was the original site of the Lighthouse of Alexandria and provides great views.

A place which you have to visit when in Alexandria. You will pay to enter the fort. Inside, you can see the architecture of the fort which is interesting. Elderlies are not advisable because you might climb stairs which is not really suitable. But you can just walk at the ground floor which is nice too. Fort is located beside... More

The Citadel is a nice, simple historical fortress at the end of Caitbay. It is one of the icons of the city along with the Library, Stanley Bridge, San Stefano and Montaza palace. Walking around the grounds of the Citadel is a fun activity but beware the steep stairs inside for people with mobility issues. The outer wall is accessible... More

Too much people outside selling things and very noisy loud music Too much people pushing you to buy from them that's outside the fort need to be controlled!

The fort itself is pretty and its location quite picturesque. But there is very little in terms of signs or information about what is what, or where.
