This is a huge museum and for a complete visit is not enough one day. It is bigger than a village. There are houses from all over Romania, that is very good for a foreigner tourist that is interested in Romanian history and traditions. It is very complex, not having only houses, there are churches, schools, pubs and other buildings... More

A part of romanian history. Beautiful enheritage and tradition are very well preserved in Astra museum. You can learn about life in XIX century in Romania, about traditions and you can see the original romanian houses from the entire Romanian country. It is gorgeous.

In November you can't visit the houses from inside but it was very interesting to see all this historic houses from the different regions in Romania. The ladies at the entrance were very friendly and helpful and they had a nice shop with traditional arts and crafts from Romania at... More

Just on the outskirts of Sibiu is the Astra outdoor museum representing the various traditional villages throughout Romania demonstrating their unique construction and layout styles. We figured we were pressed for time so opted for a horse-drawn circumvent of the park. This made the most sense given that the park is open all year, but the buildings are not open... More

I'm from Sibiu, I have been to this outdoor museum many times and i can tell you it impresses me always. Every time I go there there is a new house, there are new animals, and new people that " live in the houses" and can explain their history. There is something I would change. The people " living there"... More

Unfortunately, we went here on a Monday where the people who work in the Museum Outdoor was not working. Boo-hoo. So, we could not see any live activities. But we had a good time walking around the Museum examining the windmills (lots of them) and the artefacts from Romania. We also had our lunch in the medieval-decorated restaurant. Love it.

The museum is a huge place with old Romanian traditional village houses. It took me around 3 hours to visit the whole museum and i enjoyed every minute. The ticket is 17 lei (~4€/$ ) It is easy to reach by bus, taxy, bike.

If you have kids, start your tour by going left first. That's because the park is huge and in case your kids get too tired you don't want to miss the part especially built for them. At the left end there's a barn filled with miniature mills just for kids to play. I had to drag my 5-year-old away or... More
