Old houses, art galleries, great view of Plovdiv from the top - what more can you desire? The streets are steep and narrow, but paved. It still has that old feeling and architecture, not just a theme park facade. No matter how much I write about it, I will still miss something, so just go and see for yourself, the... More

Most cities around the world have old town areas, which are often quite nice and quite touristy. So, most of us who have traveled have seen a lot of old towns. For me this one is pretty special. According to an expert working at one of the restored old houses, there are about 200 significant houses on the rocky hill... More

I keep on coming back to this unique corner of Povdiv- cobble stone winding streets, leading to beautifully restored houses, leading to One of the seven hills of Plovdiv with great views of Plovdiv.

Walking in these streets is just wonderful, yes some houses need some serious investment and restoration, however overall it's a wonderful space to walk through. Every direction you see wonderful historic houses and churches. Every 3rd house is a museum or art gallery and all are enticing to enter and explore. Don't use a map, simply wander and soak up... Many old Bulgarian houses with lots open to the public as museums, a Roman amphitheatre, old churches. Allow at least half a day to visit. Some streets are quite steep and all are cobbled and uneven.

It was so nice to see all the people dressed up in their finest and walking in the old part to get to the place of worship. Watch... More

This is a lovely place. Truly Bulgarian and historic. The houses are traditional and old-fashioned yet functional and stable. Worth visiting them one by one as this is a great way to learn about the Bulgarian culture and traditions.

A worthy day trip for walking around a famous Bulgarian town with plenty of restaurants, shops and cafes. There are Roman ruins as well to explore and make photos.

Plovdiv's old town has an atmosphere, which you cannot forget. Day or night, the streets just take you in, and you can't decide where to look, as everything is so beautiful. It is the most beautiful part of Bulgaria!
