The views from the Walls that climb the hills behind Kotor are spectacular and well worth the effort of the climb. Like the walls round Dubrovnik, I found that this walk created something of a community atmosphere as strangers pointed out views to each other,...More

They surround the Old Town and they are easy to get to. The view is interesting, but nothing magical or extraordinary. I've been to other Old Towns and castles in different parts of the Balkans and although these are well-preserved, they pale in comparison to...More

Set off at 7 am to walk the walls and took in some incredible views of Kotor Bay and of the walls. You can imagine how imposing the fortress must have looked and admire the work that went into building it. I was fascinated by...More

Wow. These walls are big and wraps around the town. It even goes up the mountain sides like the great wall. Be prepared if you want to climb and walk up. Very steep

All part of visiting Kotor. A lovely little city. Worth walking up to at least half way to the top for the views.

The City Walls of Kotor are much more challenging to climb than are the city walls of Dubrovnik. Given the rain, and our GORE-TEX® tunic, wearing GORE-TEX® hikers, our assessment was that the required climb to the walls is an unsafe choice.

Hi Stimbo, I did the walk in March, and went up and down the same route. We started near La Dolce Vita Apartments and it is quite a trek, but worth it for the views. I've heard that it is 1400 steps and that might be... More
