I had the good luck of visiting ;Lviv, when the weather was fine and sunny, which helped of course to make this interesting and beauty avenue to impress even more. In the center of it one finds the statue of the poet Taras Shevchenko. At one side Prospekt Svobody is bordered by the old center of town with an impressive backdrop of historical buildings.
It was quite lively, but not too crowded, with people strolling around or sitting on the benches. During my stay I also took the opportunity simply to sit there and relax, enjoying the surroundings.

Go there, if you wish to see the Lviv Opera and Taras Shevchenko's monument. Otherwise, it has many cafes and shops.

Prospekt Svobody is the central street in Lviv. The streets are projected in such a way, that all smaller streets nearby will bring you to Prospect Svobody. The Opera House is the main building here. Tho the back of Opera House the Old City is situated. To the front of Opera House, you can find the Shevchenko monument with its mini-copy. To the left of Opera, there is Maria Zankovetska theatre, Vernisazh souvenir market, cinema Kinopalace. If you turn left, you will find one of the greatest streets - Horodotska, which will take you to the St. Anna Church, Circus, St. George Church, St. Elisabeth Cathedral and Central Train station. If you go forward from Opera House, you will see the Mitskevych Monument, then you will come to King Danylo monument and find the way to Shevchenko Prospekt. Rynok Square is to the left side from Prospekt Svobody.

This is a very beautiful street with parks and historical buildings. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants, a couple of hotels and very beautiful opera house, fountains and monuments. Sometimes it's just too many people there.

If you are at the Opera House, look to the end of the square and there it is. It is a great place to see a cross section of tourists.

Nice place to people watch, with the Opera at the end, watching old men playing chess, backgammon or cards. Challenging the daring. families, have some coffee, tea, sit and read, you can do it all.

What a wonderful park for just hanging out and watching people. Lots of comfortable benches, people playing in the fountain, posing for photos, kids on scooters or kicking footballs with their parents, we saw an event involving several bands playing traditional and other music, lots of people showing off their traditional embroidered clothes. We spent several enjoyable hours here on our recent trip to Lviv. A very lively place, anchored on one end by the fountain and Opera House. Btw, the park was unbelievably clean, and felt very safe, unlike I’ve seen in some other cities recently. Lots of restaraunts and museums along either side, too. If you like traditional costume, check out the costume Collection on the top floor of the Opera Passage shopping center, and the really cool sewing store with the massive collection of vintage buttons and braid and beading supplies. Both are a few doors up from the McDonalds.

The street you use to get basically anywhere you want in the city center. It leads you straight to the Opera House with the fountain in front of it. Also during the festivals and celebrations a big fair is located on this street.

Together with Rynok (Main Square) it forms the heart of the city. It is a wide avenue with a park and pedestr ian zone running along in the middle, starting at the Opera Theatre and stretching as far as Mickiewicz Monument.
A place where the local like to take a stroll, buy some fast food or flowers at the numerous kiosks, have a rest on one of the benches. It is lined by cafes and restaurant, there are some statues and monuments, and also public lavatories in the central part of the park (paid - 3 UAH).
Popular with locals as well as with tourists, the place has its own special atmosphere which I really enjoyed.

Svobody Prospect (Blvd), is a wide street with a park inside in the middle, plus kiosks selling all sorts of interesting crafts, food and souvenirs during festivals and holidays. terrific shops, cafes and restaurants. Men playing chess, dancers and singes perform during celebratory events and holidays. Great place to rent a room or apt during the holidays or on specific festivals and events.
