Erected in Roman times to honour three brothers of the wealthy Sergii family who fought at a naval battle at Actium in modern day Greece. The arch is apparently also known as the Golden Gate which is no longer a feature of course and nowadays...More

This piece of Roman history stays in the middle of the main pedestrian street in Pula. It is easy to see that the monument keeps the trails of many earthquakes. But still stays proudly on it's place. It looks so natural. Must see when you...More

It's amazing that this arch has survived (relatively) unscathed for all these centuries. Smaller than I thought it would be, this makes an ideal meeting point in the city though. If arriving by bus there are stops only a few paces away.

Stunning during the day and at night, this arch is in the heart of Pula and is marvelously preserved. It serves as the gateway to a long pedestrian corridor filled with historic sites, restaurants and shops that leads to the Arena. Don't miss it!

I liked the arc itself as well as the little forum they comprise between two main walking paths in Pula. Take a break, sit down and observe the 2 mil. old arc with the people of nowadays.

Pula is a lovely unspoilt town - full of character. People are very welcoming to tourists. Lots of unique shops and lovely bars and restaurants.

While I don't really know much of the story behind this arch, it is close to the hostel and I have walked under it nearly every day I have been here. It is a pedestrian mall and full of sidewalk cafes and shops. Great place...More

Such a beautiful piece of structure, was in awe every time I walked through it. All these people saying "it's only an arch" have no sense of culture or history! This is Pula!
