The gate faces a small harbor and is preceded by the Asimov polygonal tower. Dating back to the 1300s, the gate is accessed by an imposing stone bridge. A moat separates the gate and Fort Revelin, designed in 1538. It was the last defense to be built. For safety, local art treasures were taken there in times of trouble.

As we walked down from our hotel you could see the size, scale and grander of the gate. The bridge across the old moat area lets you see how high it really is from the base as well as great views across the harbour.

Our driver dropped us off at Ploce Gates since it wasn’t too crowded with bus and cars compared to Pile Gate. It’s also an easy walk towards to center if you’re arriving with Luggage. We also entered the City Walls at the Ploce Gates since it wasn’t crowded yet when we went. The Gate is beautiful and has view towards the Marina.

Really nice gate located next to harbour, believe it’s the only gate that allows vehicles to enter.
Loved the view of harbour from the gate and the city view looking up to the mountains.
Make sure you take the time to walk through gates to the walled city.

Ploča Gate is the gate of access, next to the Old Port, on the opposite side of the Pile
Gate. Less busy, but beautiful and with beautiful views. It gives access to the shopping side and a great beach area and restaurants. Like the Pile Gate, the Ploča also ⁇ ins the system of the medieval leaf bridge. It was the setting for the Game of Thrones series.

Its the second best of the 3 gates after Pile gate. It is near the old town harbour and has a lovely board walk to the left of the entrance and you can get some nice pics from there. You enter over a little bridge and through the gate and come out on Stradun St.
There is good access to the cable car just outside the gate. There is also some restaurants nearby as well.
It also the Red keep entrance for G.O.T fans going to the old town.

One door entering the old castle. The door opposite the Pile Gate is the door you need to take to the view of the mountain to take a cable car or enjoy a variety of Trips. It's also a possible middle entry point of the wall tour.

An entrance to the walled city near to the harbour. Magical feeling about it as it’s a drawbridge with big wooden gates.
Very photogenic and exciting to enter.
Highly recommended.
We had our Uber driver drop us off here when we travelled in from nearby Srebreno.

My opinion is this gate has the best views of the city walls when entering Dubrovnik. This was the closest gate to our hotel so we used it frequently (maybe I am a little bias lol).
I also felt like it wasn’t as crowded as the other gate where all the buses stop from the cruises etc.
Also this the best gate to enter to walk the city walls. The entrance to the walls at the Ploce Gate has the most steps and uphill climb and is best to get it out of the way first (again my opinion only). I read other reviews before my wife and I walked the wall and they were definitely true about starting there.

This was our way in and out of the city every day, as our airbnb was just up the hill from there. The Harbour right there, and the bridge lite up at night gave it so much charm and character!

We will be traveling to the Old City and staying in an Air BnB. Are there services we can pay for to help with our luggage? We have a couple of people in our group that struggle with walking long distances, especially with luggage. Thanks!

Hi there Michael ,
Unfortunately , we do not know of any helping services .
I would get in touch with a local "Dubrovnikian" (your AirBNB owner) , and ask him about it .
Good luck and enjoy your visit .
Saul.

I am flying to Dubrovnik tomorrow and was advised by my host in Old Town to enter via Ploca East Gate as it is a 10 minute downhill walk to the Cathedral where she will meet her. I will have luggage. I hope to take the bus from the airport ....last post in 2013 stated shuttle bus only stops at Pile Gate. Any information will be appreciated. Also, in Split they took euros. If bus only accepts Konas...or if is much more reasonable that way, I will exchange dollars at airport.

I'm pretty sure the buses stop by the Ploce gate also. Just ask when you get there, no problems with language. It's not far to walk around the outside of the wall if you have to so you can avoid the crowded old town. Enjoy Dubrovnik, it's so beautiful!
