We went to Lokrum, the site for scenes from Game of Thrones, because of the lure of a swim, but it was too cold in mid April. We enjoyed a rather steep hike up to the Fort Royale Castle, built under Napoleon's orders when his army took Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian coast in the 1800s. The fort, which can be... More

The good points : you are left to wander around freely. There are points of interest i.e. The fort, the gardens and the paths. The peacocks and rabbits wandering around were joyous. Nice cafe with toilets / wifi. Very peaceful place to visit. The not so good parts : the maps aren't great and interpretation boards are needed to explain... More

This is good for a day trip while in the city. The short ferry trip across to Lokrum only took 15 mins and as soon as you get off you can start exploring on your own. There is lots to see and plenty of signs around to help point you in the right direction. There are a couple of places... More

This was the best island of Dubrovnik. Everything was beautiful, especially the dead sea. Could sit there for hours. Very good value for money also.

Paid 120 kuna return for a boat from Dubrovnik which included the 90 kuna national park entry. Quick boat ride across, not bad even on an overcast day. Spent a lovely few hours here looking at the peacocks and rabbits wandering, exploring the nooks and crannies of the island, eating in one of the restaurants (far better than I expected,... More

The ferry is easy to use and affords some great passage views, but I found the island itself a bit underwhelming. The paths on the south side are almost too maintained and feel a bit like a zoo, while the trail up to the fort and the fort itself is not well marked and there are no historical explanations or... Just a short boar trip away from Dubrovnik's old port, this is a pleasant little island to visit. There are wild peacocks and peahens and lots of rabbits just wandering around unperturbed by the visitors. Nice place to bring a picnic and enjoy the scenery although there are a couple of places to eat on the island. Definitely worth a... More

Its a very nice island that has a OK view to the city. the botanical garden there is rubbish, was really dry and uncared for. there is a nice place to dip in the water in the summer although it was too cold for us at April.. Ferry boat there is a bit expensive and goes once every hour..

We found the island of Lokrum a perfect get away from the hustle-bustle of the city centre of Dubrovnik, which we found to be very crowded during Easter holidays. A 15-20 minutes of boat ride is all that is required to reach the island, which provides ample amount of activities to do- run after bunnies and peacocks/hens, climb on top... More
